Former BBC star Jay Blades has reportedly been charged with two counts of rape and is set to appear in court later this month.

The TV star is best known for presenting The Repair Shop, Money for Nothing and Jay Blades’ Home Fix, and co-presenting Jay and Dom’s Home Fix. He has also fronted features with Sir David Jason and Dame Judi Dench.

Blades, who was awarded an MBE in the 2021 Birthday Honours for his services to crafts has three children; a daughter from his first marriage and two sons from previous relationships.

West Mercia Police are said to have confirmed charges against the 55-year-old, who stepped back from presenting The Repair Shop last year, and said that a a magistrates’ court date is set for Wednesday 13 July. A spokesperson told The Sun on Monday night: “Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape.”

They added: “He is due to appear at Telford magistrates’ court on 13 August 2025.”
