Oritse Williams has snubbed a string of big-money deals to do reality shows. The JLS singer is keen to focus on his music career.

He said: “There have been a few shows that have approached me and I haven’t gone for them. Right now I’ve got to focus on being in the studio. A lot of those other things can be very distracting.”

Oritse’s JLS bandmates have all cashed in on their fame with appearances on reality TV.

Marvin Humes was on I’m A Celebrity, Aston Merrygold was on Strictly and JB Gill was on Strictly, The Jump and Celebrity MasterChef.

Oritse prefers having time away from the spotlight when he isn’t promoting music or performing at gigs.

He said: “For a lot of celebs reality TV gives them a second wind and another chance at being in the spotlight, but for me, what I want is deeper than that.

“I appreciate being in the public eye and I appreciate fans have put me in a position to live my dream. But sometimes I think going quiet is sometimes underrated.

“There is pressure to constantly be out there, but it’s OK to step away for a while.”

Marvin has previously admitted doing I’m A Celebrity was tough.

Flying out to Australia for the show meant being away from wife Rochelle and their children.

He said: “I’m A Celeb was always the one I said I would do if asked.

“It was perfect because any other year, I wouldn’t have been able to do it because of radio and JLS commitments.

“I mean, it took a big toll on the family. We were away for like five weeks I think in total.”

Bandmate JB has revealed Strictly was a lot of fun for him.

The hunk reckons it’s vital not to take it too seriously.

He said: “I’d encourage people to have fun on the show as ultimately that’s what it’s all about.

“It is a competition, yes, but you’re learning a new skill and it helps not to take it too seriously.”
