John Cleese worries ‘it might kill me’ as Monty Python star faces health battles

Monty Python legend John Cleese has opened up on his health battles, admitting his latest project “might kill” him as he prepares to jet off to the United States

John Cleese confesses his latest venture “might kill” him.

The 85-year-old Monty Python legend has faced medical challenges throughout recent years as the comedy icon was diagnosed with type two diabetes, received a pacemaker, underwent knee replacement surgery and had two hip replacements.

Last year he admitted to spending £17,000 on stem cell treatments in an effort to “prolong” his life and travels to a Swiss clinic every 12 to 18 months for the procedure, which he claims helps maintain his youthful appearance.

John has joked that his upcoming venture could prove too demanding as he gears up to travel to America with his tour, Not Dead Yet. Speaking to MailOnline he said: “I’m 85 years old. I’ve got two replacement hips, a replacement knee, I’m deaf in one ear, I’ve got a pacemaker – and I’ve had three hair transplants,” reports the Express.

“I’m hoping not to die while I’m on tour. It’s exhausting, it’s ridiculous – and frankly, it might kill me,” as the Fawlty Towers legend concluded: “If this is the last time. It’s not a bad way to go.”

In 2014 John actually confessed that he was actually looking forward to the prospect of death, declaring that he wouldn’t be making any more films due to the sheer amount of effort required.

When questioned about whether he’d pen a third film following A Fish Called Wanda and Fierce Creatures, he responded: “No, because it is too much like hard work.”

“It is two-and-three-quarter years and I am too old for that process. If I started on it now I would die. I have only got five or six years left and I will be gone – I won’t have to worry about ISIS or Ebola, I am looking forward to it.
