Radio presenter Johnny Vaughan has announced the death of his father Randall, aged 91, as his former Big Breakfast co-star Denise Van Outen paid tribute online
Johnny Vaughan’s father has sadly passed away at the age of 91. The broadcaster shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram and posted a photograph of himself alongside his beloved dad Randall. The 59-year-old TV personality penned an emotional tribute to his “dearest dad” alongside a snap of Randall with a cheeky dog peeking out from beneath his cardigan.
Johnny penned: “My Dearest Dad has gone and I’m so very sad. I will find you in the morning sun and when the night is new: I’ll be looking at the moon but I’ll be seeing you.”
Supporters and celebrity pals rushed to offer their sympathies in the comments with Johnny’s former Big Breakfast colleague Denise Van Outen amongst the first to respond, reports the Mirror.
The actress told her mate she was in her thoughts, commenting: “Thinking of you Johnny. Sending you the biggest hug.” Fellow Big Breakfast alumna Kelly Brook also expressed her sorrow, writing: “So sorry to hear this sending you all the love in the world.”
TV personality Lizzie Cundy simply said: “So very sorry” whilst ex-X Factor presenter Kate Thornton added: “So sorry for your loss x.”
One devoted fan also shared their sympathies, posting: “Sorry for your loss Johnny. Almost a year ago I lost my Dad. I messaged you and asked if you could give him a posthumous honorary salute, which you did. So on behalf of myself and all the listeners, to your Dad. We salute you. Rest in peace.”
Radio host Johnny typically keeps his private life away from the public eye, but gave followers a rare glimpse into his world back in May. Offering a peek into a family getaway to sunny Marrakech with partner Vanessa and their young son, Johnny posted a series of adorable photographs.
The ex-Capital Breakfast presenter took to Instagram to share some touching holiday snaps from the vibrant Moroccan city whilst spending precious time with his nearest and dearest. He wrote alongside the post: “Marrakech is just over 3 hours away. It’s insane that so different to London is so near. If you want to feel like you’ve ‘abroad’, it offers unbeatable bang for your buck.”
