Justin Bieber fans were left fretting after the Peaches crooner posted snaps from his latest jaunt, with one pic showing him lounging on a sofa beside his young son, Jack. But a bit of controversy kicked in when another snap featured the 31-year-old and a friend enjoying a roll-up on that very same couch. While there was no suggestion that young Jack was around while the puffing went on, fans nonetheless took to the comments questioning the Confident warbler’s choices.

“Don’t smoke in front your kid,” blasted one follower, while another jumped to his defence: “He’s not, it’s different moments clearly.” Another was less forgiving, hammering out: “Bestie you did not just smoke in front of baby Jack.”

A concerned supporter admonished: “Dude there is no way you have that baby around that smoke… be better like we know you can be,” and one more chimed in: “Children are particularly vulnerable to health problems from exposure to smoke, including both cigarette and marijuana (pot) smoke,” warning of the hazards associated with inhaling smoke, reports the Mirror.

Yet others were quick to douse the flames, saying the smoking session happened at a completely different point compared to when little Jack was sofa-side.

“If you notice in the photo, when Justin was smoking, Jack wasn’t around him or near him. It’s very clear that Justin wasn’t smoking around the baby. And the photo of Justin and Jack was taken at a different moment,” noted one defender.

In a candid Instagram post, Justin confessed that he’s “hurt others”, addressing the recent worries over his social media activity. He wrote: “I’m just an averaged flawed guy, I’ve done things that have hurt others, I continue to do and say things that hurt others unintentionally.”

He then expressed his hopes for personal growth and improvement, adding: “Yet I woke up this morning with another opportunity to grow and not be so selfish today. Love draws us in. Love doesn’t condemn. Love believes the best. Love hopes all things and endures all things. It doesn’t keep record of wrong. Love helps u to forgive and love even your enemies.”

In a follow-up post, Justin shared his inner fears about being vulnerable, stating: “I sometimes think I’m gonna get exposed if I tell people how selfish I am. Like if I admitted that, maybe people wouldn’t like me or trust me. I thought if I was honest about the selfish things I was feeling that I was gonna be disqualified from the dreams I had of being included.”

However, he came to a realisation that honesty brought freedom, explaining: “But the more honest I am about where I really am. The more freedom I actually have. The truth is I wake up every morning. Some days I’m optimistic, sometimes I wake up pessimistic, I can’t control how I’m gonna feel, I would find myself even subconsciously blaming god for the bad feeling I woke up with rather than communicate with him and ask him to help me have a change of perspective.

“I’ve been really asking God to help me see the best in people, even after being used in the way I have. Once again, it’s easier to point the finger than it is to take ownership. It’s easy to say damn their greedy rather than to check the greed in our own hearts. Only God can remove the greed and selfishness from our hearts. Trying harder won’t work. Cuz I tried lol.”
