Justin Timberlake shared that he has been dealing with a health issue while on tour for the past few years. The singer was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2024
Justin Timberlake has revealed that he’s been grappling with a serious health condition while touring over the past few years.
Following the conclusion of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour on 30 July, the Cry Me A River singer disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease. This revelation follows online videos mocking Justin’s stage performance, labelling him as “lazy” and “barely singing,” with concert attendees sharing footage of Justin hardly moving on stage.
However, he’s now silenced the critics with an Instagram post reflecting on the tour. He wrote: “This has been the most fun, emotional, gratifying, physically demanding, and, at times, grueling experience.
“I could not have done it without my family, friends, The TN Kids, and all of YOUR support.
“Among other things, I’ve been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease– which I don’t say so you feel bad for me–– but to shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes.”
He added: “If you’ve experienced this disease or know someone who has – then you’re aware: living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically.”
Justin then shared his reaction after being “shocked” by the diagnosis. He added: “At least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness.”
He revealed he contemplated abandoning his performances but “decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling. I’m so glad I kept going.
“Not only did I prove my mental tenacity to myself but, I now have so many special moments with all of you that I will never forget.”
He added: “I was reluctant to talk about this because I was always raised to keep something like this to yourself. But I am trying to be more transparent about my struggles so that they aren’t misinterpreted.”
Lyme disease can be passed to humans through tick bites. The Mayo Clinic states that symptoms include skin rashes, memory problems, stiff joints, and persistent fatigue, amongst other signs.
Numerous individuals don’t recall encountering ticks, or weren’t aware they should examine themselves for tick bites. Warning signs can emerge within 30 days of being bitten.
The CDC confirms that July 2025 recorded the highest monthly tick bite rate in the past five years. There were 74 tick bites per 100,000 emergency room visits – the highest figure since 2017.
