Ex-glamour model Katie Price has spoken out about the reported cracks between her and her daughter, after she didn’t appear in Princess’ new reality show
Princess Andre is “too scared to tell the truth” about an alleged family “rift” in the family, her mum Katie Price has claimed. The ex-glamour model and her eldest daughter have been plagued by rumours of tension between them in recent weeks, amid news that Katie would not feature in Princess’s own reality programme.
The Princess Diaries follows Princess alongside her dad Peter Andre and stepmum Emily. The show focuses on her journey into adulthood after turning 18. At one point in the show, she said she wished for a better and happier childhood.
Despite Katie maintaining a positive relationship with her children, she alleged that behind-the-scenes, whispers suggest a rift between her and Princess. Katie also claimed she was barred from the show, even though she was in Ibiza at the same time as Princess and had tearfully pleaded with the producers to let her back in.
Now, the 47-year-old has hinted while Princess is starring in her own show and interacting with the press, she’s “too frightened” to disclose the truth. This came after Katie sparked concern among fans with her appearance in a family photo, following her explanation of her weight loss.
“I said to Princess ‘Have you seen any edits of the show?’ and she said ‘No’,” she disclosed on her podcast, The Katie Price Show. “So it’ll be interesting to see what’s cut out. I won’t be watching the show and I won’t be promoting the show because I don’t need it rubbed in my face of everyone playing happy families and regarding me as the other parent.
“Although I support Princess and everything she does, I think it’s really wrong for her age to be put in this situation because she’s going to have to do press, and they will ask. Apparently they’re doing This Morning, Junior and Princess, they are going to be asked ‘What’s all this about your mum? Why isn’t your mum in it?'”
Katie continued: “I think Princess would be too scared to tell the truth because Dad and management wouldn’t have me in it, which is the truth. Princess shouldn’t have that pressure; she should be enjoying it and not worrying about what her parents think. It’s very healthy for both parents to support their kids.
“I know her management listens to my podcast, so I just want to say one thing, and it’s to all parents out there. Any parent out there, how would you feel as a parent that you’re so close to your child but then you’ve got other people taking them off you? Not letting you turn up or support your child?
“They just take them off you. They don’t acknowledge you. They don’t tell you anything. They don’t involve you in anything. How harmful is that to a mother? It’s so upsetting.”
Princess is presently managed by CAN Group, the same management company that represents her dad. CAN also looked after Katie after her appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and throughout her marriage to Peter.
Nevertheless, Katie has been open about her opposition to the firm managing Princess, claiming the director harbours ill feelings towards her since their professional relationship ended following her divorce from Peter in 2009.
Katie was told that she couldn’t be “deleted completely”, but while she may be prevented from featuring on the programme, producers have most likely recognised they couldn’t create the show without referencing Katie.
“When I was in Ibiza, Princess was there in Ibiza and I wasn’t allowed to meet up with her,” she revealed.
During an evening out on the party island, Katie bumped into the producers of The Princess Diaries and broke down in tears, expressing her desire to be included.
“I never cry,” she stated, before explaining that the producer witnessed her distress and “knew it was right” that Katie should be supporting her daughter.
“I don’t know where it’s going to go from here, but it’s alright for them not to have me in the show, but I’m alright to be used for headlines for the show.”
