EXCLUSIVE: Katie Price could rake in a fortune as her music career gets a surprise boost, with fans driving her single up the charts and tours potentially lining her pockets
Katie Price’s music career could be on the verge of a major comeback, with industry experts suggesting the reality star could be raking in a whopping fortune if she capitalises on her renewed chart success.
This comes after the news her 2017 track ‘I Got U’ stormed the charts last week and landed at number three after eight years of being released.
Celebrity PR specialist Kayley Cornelius of Pressbox PR told Daily Star: “Katie Price’s music comeback could see her raking in a fortune, with fans already pushing her 2017 single ‘I Got U’ to number one in the charts despite the recent controversy surrounding her. If she can attract the same level of backing for her upcoming releases, Katie could be looking at bringing in six to seven-figures – especially if she manages to fully maximise her newfound fame this time around.”
The expert added that streaming platforms and radio airplay could be pivotal to Price’s financial success and added: “With streaming services now dominating how consumers listen to music, and platforms like Spotify paying very little per stream, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for artists to earn big money directly from music sales.
“This is where Katie’s strong and loyal fan base will be put to the test. If they can once again drive her to the top of the charts, it will be instrumental in turning her comeback into a genuine success. The buzz on social media will also play a huge part, boosting her streaming numbers, helping her climb the charts, and getting her back onto commercial radio playlists.”
She also highlighted the importance of touring and merchandising which could be lucrative for the former glamour model. The expert continued: “That said, the biggest money maker for Katie will almost certainly be merchandising and touring. Artists generally see a much higher profit margin from live shows and product sales compared to streams or downloads, and this is where she could really cash in. Depending on the size and scale of any upcoming tours, she would likely be looking at a five to six-figure sum, so a serious payday if she can get out on the road.”
PR expert Rochelle White also claimed the Pricey’s chart resurgence has reignited her enthusiasm for music. Rochelle added: “I feel that Katie will take this as an opportunity and double down on it. The fact that her single ‘I Got U’ has had a resurgence and got to Number 3 on the UK dance charts, very unexpectedly I feel that her fans and her have a renewed interest.
“Seeing her reaction, I’m sure this has sparked enthusiasm in her and will make her want to do more. One thing about her is that she will turn her hand to anything and will want to prove people wrong. I feel that she is a big believer in herself and so I think she will try and capitalise on this.”
The expert also broke down the potential earnings from streaming and downloads which could all add up in the star’s bank account. She shared: “So she could make from streaming (depending on the number of streams) around £5,000 – £8,000 that is based on 1 million streams on Apple Music and around £2,000 – £3,000 via Spotify. If she got 20,000 downloads which is a rough estimate for a top 3 single, it could be around £12,000. It will depend on how much it is streamed, purchased and if she is quick to build on that success.”
With social media backing, radio airplay, and her loyal fan base all poised to support her, experts suggest Katie’s music career could transform from a one-time experiment into a full-blown commercial success.
