Katie Price’s 28-stone son Harvey starting Ozempic over escalating weight fears

Katie Price has opened up on her fears for her son Harvey, 22, as she revealed that doctors have suggested the 28-stone should be given Ozempic to help him, despite it not being a weight loss drug

Katie Price has disclosed her plans to use Ozempic, due to concerns about her 28-stone son Harvey’s escalating weight following an “angry” message from her eldest boy.

The ex-glamour model became tearful as she revealed intentions to put her son, who has a rare genetic condition causing constant hunger, on Ozempic injections, despite it not being a weight loss drug.

These are typically used for diabetes treatment but have also been adopted by celebrities for weight loss. Katie, 46, fears that without intervention, her eldest son, 22, could face severe health risks due to his increasing weight.

She shared that top doctors have suggested these injections for Harvey, who recently made his panto debut, hoping they could potentially save and improve his life. She confessed that Harvey’s situation is “really serious” and pointed out the risk of him having a heart attack.

The mother-of-five frankly stated that Harvey’s condition means he isn’t currently losing any weight. In a chat with the Sun, Katie said: “He’s putting on weight. It doesn’t matter what we do. He can’t put his shoes on without sweating. He can’t walk far because he gets out of breath.”

She attributed these difficulties to his weight and mentioned that doctors recommended the injections to enhance his health and lifespan, reports the Express.

Harvey suffers from several debilitating conditions including autism, septo-optic dysplasia, ADHD and oppositional defiant disorder.

Katie views the injections for Harvey as a big thumbs up, claiming they can be stopped if he doesn’t take well to them. “We’ve tried food, he’s had dieticians, it’s just the way he is,” she said, confirming there won’t be any clashes with his current meds.

The telly star revealed that medics are pushing for Harvey to test out slimming jabs for a year or two to see how he copes.

Dr Zoe Williams said to the Sun on the struggle for those with Prader-Willi syndrome, saying: “A recognised symptom of Prader-Willi syndrome is an everyday constant insatiable hunger and desire to eat which is more pronounced than most of us will ever experience. Managing weight is practically impossible so it makes sense that medical teams would consider weight-loss injections as a therapy for these patients.”

She reckons in the right situation and with top-notch care, these jabs could be a real lifesaver.

Just last month, Katie was batting away chatter about her own weight loss after some eagle-eyed types thought she was on the jabs herself. But in a cheeky clapback on Rob Moore’s podcast, Disruptors, she shut down the gossip mill, chalking her slimmer frame up to ditching IVF treatments.

“So people have said I’ve lost loads of weight. Now there’s a programme coming out in January, my IVF journey. Anyone you know who’s had IVF, you put on weight. I had three IVFs the past 15 months. They all failed.”

Katie opened up about how her injury impacted her figure, saying: “It started from when I broke my feet. They said I’d never run again. So I couldn’t run, wasn’t exercising, couldn’t ride my horses, so basically, I was in a wheelchair for 10 months.”

When asked about her thoughts on weight loss jabs, she admitted she hadn’t tried them herself but disclosed that her son Harvey was about to start the treatment. She expressed her concerns due to Harvey’s health conditions: “No, but Harvey’s going on that. So I’ve had to sit there with the doctors. I think when it comes to things like that, I think because of Harvey and all the medication and that he has, I think people have to be really careful with things like that.”

Katie also made it clear she doesn’t see the need for such interventions for herself, confidently stating, “I don’t need it. I never have done. I’ve always been skinny. Look at old pictures of me. Always been tiny.
