Kelly Osbourne was left speechless as her partner Sid Wilson popped the question backstage at her dad Ozzy Osbourne’s final gig
Kelly Osbourne is engaged to her partner Sid Wilson, following Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance with Black Sabbath, and her engagement ring holds a special personal significance.
On Saturday, Ozzy officially concluded his reign as the Prince of Darkness with his last stage appearance. The 76 year old rock legend joined his Black Sabbath bandmates at Villa Park, Birmingham for one of the most memorable farewell shows in music history.
Following the spectacular show, the Osbourne family received a delightful surprise backstage when Kelly’s long-term partner Sid proposed. Sharing the happy news on Instagram, Kelly, 40, posted a sweet video of Sid’s proposal, asking her to spend the rest of their lives together.
Accompanying the video, Kelly wrote: “Oh, and this happened yesterday.”
In the touching clip, Sharon can be heard saying: “We’ve got to be quiet, hold on,” as she hushed the crew backstage at the show.
Kelly’s now-fiancé is then heard declaring: “Kelly, you know I love you more than anything in the world.” However, Sid’s romantic proposal was quickly interrupted by a joking Ozzy who exclaimed: “F*** off! You’re not marrying my daughter.”
Clearly used to Ozzy’s humour, Sid laughs and continues to ask Kelly the crucial question.
He went on: “Nothing would make me happier than spending the rest of my life with you. So, in front of your family and all of our friends, Kelly, will you marry me?”
Kelly then spins around, a look of astonishment on her face, before covering her face with her hands and nodding ‘yes’.
MailOnline has since unveiled the touching significance behind the ring, revealing it as a tribute to his partner’s late friend Joan Rivers who passed away in 2014 at the age of 81.
Sid reportedly wanted the ring to reference a pet name both he and Joan had for Kelly. He explained: “So I have a nickname for Kelly, and it’s “Honeybee” and coincidentally a friend of hers, Joan Rivers used to call her this.
“It was a nickname [Joan] had for her. I didn’t know this, it’s like an amazing coincidence, it’s like whoa, like meant to be.”
Kelly earned the endearing moniker due to her constant ‘buzzing around’ and ‘spreading good energy’, so the ring was inspired by bees and pollen. The ring’s design boasts a unique beehive-inspired structure, adding to its sentimental value.
It is an 18K yellow gold ring adorned with both white and yellow diamonds, as well as citrine accents, and the centrepiece is a stunning 2.5 carat round brilliant-cut diamond.
