Kerry Katona is said to be ‘smitten’ with her new boyfriend, personal trainer Paolo Margaglione – but their romance has already been hit by a number of ‘tense moments’
Kerry Katona’s blossoming romance with fitness trainer Paolo Margaglione may already be facing challenges. The pair, who confirmed their relationship with a trip to Ibiza, appeared to be in a tense exchange in photos taken on the island.
A source close to the couple claims that while they are “smitten” with each other, Kerry, 44, is hesitant to put their relationship in the public eye. With the new series of Celebs Go Dating, where they met, set to air soon, Kerry’s concerns could be causing friction between the couple.
“Kerry is being very cautious with this romance,” the source says. “She has been very wary about going public with Paolo and it impacting their relationship. She’s been down the route of high-profile, public relationships before and she doesn’t want anything to ruin things this time.”
Kerry has so far kept quiet about her new relationship with Paolo, 33, a father of two from Yorkshire. However, with the ups and downs of her past relationships having been public knowledge, our insider suggests that Kerry is apprehensive about repeating history.
“Kerry’s worries have caused some tense moments as she doesn’t want any exterior drama getting in the way. But Paolo isn’t overthinking it – he’s just really happy to be with her. He doesn’t see the problem and is telling her not to worry, they’re great together and should just enjoy what they’ve got.”, reports the Mirror.
Body language expert Adrianne Carter believes that, despite the couple looking smitten in their holiday snaps, their body language could indicate underlying tension. “Kerry’s body is angled towards Paolo’s slightly, so she is interacting with him, but the top half of her body is leaning away – this is often a sign of disagreement – maybe they’ve had a bit of a row, or bust-up.
“He’s holding her hand possessively and taking a more dominant position with the hands, while she looks like she’s ready to disengage her hand,” Adrianne elaborates. “The tilt of her head looks like she may be questioning or disputing something. There’s a tenseness to both of their expressions that doesn’t look relaxed.”
However, an insider suggests that Kerry’s stress may stem from the intensity of her feelings for Paolo and her strong desire to make this relationship work after experiencing so much heartache in the past. “Kerry loves being in love – she’s trying to do this the right way. They’re smitten with each other and can’t believe they’ve found one another. They just don’t want anything getting in the way.”
The new couple has also faced external pressure, including criticism after Paolo’s ex-girlfriend Jessica Smith publicly claimed he was dating her when he signed up for the show, alleging his sole motivation was fame.
The source adds that Kerry’s loved ones are also concerned. “Friends and family are worried she’s jumping in a bit fast and should maybe take a break from men. But she’s very happy and determined to make it work with Paolo,” they claim.
Despite the claims, Kerry, who recently underwent her fourth boob job, and Paolo have remained together since filming for the show wrapped earlier this summer.
Kerry has been married three times before: to Brian McFadden, with whom she shares daughters Molly and Lilly, before they split in 2004 after two years of marriage; to taxi driver Mark Croft, with whom she had Heidi and Max, before their split in 2010; and to George Kay, with whom she had daughter DJ in 2014, the same year they married. George passed away in 2019, two years after the couple split.
