EXCLUSIVE: Love Island star Cach, who has quickly become a fan favourite on the show, recently broke down after he was left “embarrassed” and alone at the fire pit
Love Island star Cach’s vulnerability has changed what fans think of the ITV show.
The ITV contestant recently burst into tears after he was left “embarrassed” as Toni recoupled with Harrison, who she has been in an on-off situationship with since she entered the villa, which left Cach stood at the fire pit by himself and gained him a lot of support from viewers.
PR specialist Kayley Cornelius spoke to Daily Star about Cach’s vulnerable moment and how this is helping to break down “toxic masculinity” on the show while “boosting” fan opinion of the ITV series online.
Speaking on behalf of Betfred she said: “We’ve witnessed quite a few moments in this year’s Love Island where the men of the villa have shed a few tears – a refreshing change, particularly at a time when the trend of ‘toxic masculinity’ appears to be on the rise.”
“Not only is this helping to challenge the stigma around men crying, but it also undoubtedly presents a positive example to any male viewers watching. For Cach and Ty especially, their heartfelt and genuine moment will also have done wonders for boosting their public profiles.”
Kayley noted that although Harry and Harrison have shed a few tears during their villa stint, fans have not “shown the same level of admiration or support towards them as they have for Ty, Cach and Tommy” because of their “authenticity”
She explained: “To many, the three boys represent a significant anomaly when it comes to modern dating and their behaviour has stood in stark contrast to that of the other boys in the villa. Their kindness, emotional intelligence, loyalty and the grace with which they carry themselves have understandably made them firm favourites with the public.”
“So, when they found themselves at the centre of love triangles, and in Cach’s case a particularly messy one, it was no surprise that the public were quick to rally behind them. Especially Ty, who had to remind Cach that it’s completely okay to cry things out.”
The duo have clearly “already won over the audience” based on fans’ comments online, Ty and Cach’s “touching moment” helped confirm to viewers that their “emotions are genuine and their personalities are authentic,” not a “performance for the cameras”.
“Sympathy tends to run thinner for the likes of Harry and Harrison, whose emotional moments often arise in the midst of drama that’s typically sparked by their own actions. As a result, their tears can be harder for viewers to interpret.”
“While it’s likely they are genuinely upset, their emotions risk coming across as inauthentic, as their behaviour doesn’t always align with their words, and because they often end up in similar situations time and again.”
