Controversial Love Island lad Harrison Solomon has left the ITV dating show after messing Toni Laites and Lauren Wood around, and fans now believe they know why he’s quit
Love Island fans believe they’ve worked out why Harrison has quit the show.
The 22-year-old has left fans furious this week over his treatment of Toni Laites and Lauren Wood. After stringing them both along in a twisted triangle and sleeping with Lauren twice, he has now decided to leave the villa – just as new bombshell Angel has entered.
He reportedly walked out of the villa on Thursday night (July 17) after an emotional breakdown and is heading home to Miami. A source said: “It’s been a momentous few days for Harrison and ultimately he has decided to quit.”
They added to The Sun: “Everyone was so shocked and people were crying and hugging him. He worked through everything with the ITV duty of care team and is making his way home to his family now.”
Fans have now taken to social media to predict why Harrison decided to walk away from the show early. Some are saying it’s because Lauren has been dumped as bombshell Angel has picked Ty, leaving her single.
A user on Reddit: “I bet it’s Lauren who is dumped because Angel apparently wants Ty. Lauren will get dumped and Harrison will follow her out the villa.”
Another wrote: “It’s Lauren who gets dumped. Angel is gunning for Ty, that’s who she wants. Harrison will then walk after Lauren’s dumping.”
A third added: “I think she gets dumped tonight and Harrison quits the next day, maybe he leaves with Lauren and the new bombshell picks Ty.” A fourth agreed: “Bombshell picks Ty, so Lauren goes and Harrison follows her out. That would be crazy!!”
Other specualted that it was because Harrison felt bad about how he treated the girls, saying: “I think one of his girls is dumped and he then leaves because he feels sh** about how he has treated the girl.”
Harrison and Las Vegas beauty Toni were coupled up early on in the series, but Harrison’s head kept being turned by Helena and then Lauren, once he entered Casa Amor. Toni was left devastated by his move with Lauren as she still had feelings for him, and he kept suggesting he still liked her – despite the fact he slept with Lauren twice.
Toni finally found out he had slept with Lauren, but not until after she’d decided to recouple with him once again. She was again upset, but ultimately tried to move things on until he started turning back to Lauren during Thursday night’s episode.
Earlier this week, Women’s Aid released a statement about the likes of Harrison’s behaviour. Jessye Werner of the organisation told The Tab: “In recent years, Love Island and other forms of reality TV have been repeatedly called out by viewers for allowing in contestants that had a history of abusive, coercive and manipulative behaviour in previous relationships. As a result, production companies have been more careful when it comes to selecting contestants and calling out toxic behaviours when we see them.
“Despite these positive steps, we still see unhealthy patterns of behaviour on these shows, showing just how steeped in misogyny and sexism our society still is. Women are often lied to, slut-shamed and manipulated, as well as laughed at behind their backs.
“Misogyny and sexism lay the foundation for the tolerance of abuse and violence – it reinforces a culture that excuses and trivialises violence against women and girls. More must be done to educate contestants on sexism and misogyny, and it is a great credit to viewers who take to social media, continuing to call out these behaviours as soon as they see them.”
Love Island continues nightly at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
