EXCLUSIVE: Former Love Island star Olivia Hawkins says she’s “tame” compared to this year’s girls, slams villa drama, and hints at future TV plans after turning down a big show
Former Love Island contestant Olivia Hawkins has weighed in on the drama-filled current season, claiming that this year’s crop of girls are “probably worse” than her.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star in collaboration with Mecca Bingo, the reality star revealed she has no plans to return to the villa, even as a bombshell, but she does feel “jealous” of the line-up.
Olivia said: “I definitely don’t see myself going in this year. I don’t know if I could go back on Love Island, to be honest. But if I did, I think I’d be tame compared to the other girls. I think they’re probably worse than me!
“But it would’ve been a really good season to have gone into. I’m kind of jealous because it’s really taking off. It’s very entertaining. I wish the girls would be a bit more like the boys and play the field a little.”
Olivia gained the label of “villain” during her appearance on Love Island season 9 due to her fiery confrontations and perceived manipulative behaviour, particularly in relation to her fellow islanders.
Though she slammed claims she was ever a “villain” on the show and branded the label “tiring”. “I’m a confident girl but I don’t go into things thinking I want to cause drama or want to be a controversial person,” she said.
Addressing the clear girl group divide in the villa, the former islander said it’s “confusing” to keep up with who’s allied with who. “It’s a shame to see a divide. As much as you need your couple, you need your friends. I didn’t find love in there, so I fell in love with my friends,” she shared, calling for the current girls to come together.
“The guys seem to be getting away with a lot. Yasmin gets the brunt of everything. I feel really bad for her. I wish I could send her a telepathic message like, ‘You’re iconic. Keep doing you. Don’t change.’”
Away from reality TV, she also shared a surreal celebrity encounter from her acting days before Love Island. “I did a film called The Beekeeper with Jason Statham. He spoke to me for 20 minutes and I had no idea who he was. Everyone was staring at me, and I was like, ‘Who is this guy?’ Turns out it was Jason Statham!”
Looking ahead, she hinted at what’s next. While she turned down season one of Love Island Games, she’s eyeing other reality projects. “I’d love to do Strictly, even though I’ve never done ballroom. Or SAS – people would love to see me struggle, but I’d prove them wrong. I’m actually very strong and determined mentally.”
