A former Love Island contestant has said she’s “scared” to go out in her neighbourhood after a frightening incident. Patsy Field, 30, who graced our screens on the ITV2 hit show last year, took to TikTok with a chilling tale of being followed by a man while walking alone at night in Bromley.
In a four-minute TikTok video, Patsy shared her ordeal and questioned her followers: “Do you think I’m overreacting or not? Basically something happened to me yesterday that has just never happened to me before and it freaked me out and now I’m scared to like walk around in my local area.”
The reality TV alum recounted how she had been out for dinner in London with her family and later decided to “walk it all off” when she got back home, noting it was around 8pm. Despite never having issues before in her Bromley neighbourhood, Patsy described a terrifying encounter where she ended up screaming and running away from a man who appeared to be following her.
Patsy also mentioned in her TikTok confession that she was wearing gym gear at the time, which she thought “maybe is a bit revealing”, but insisted she’s always felt safe in her area until now. She expressed her fear and uncertainty to her fans, saying: “I’ve never had any issues before [though]. Always felt like quite safe where I’m from.”
The ex-Love Island star recounted a nerve-wracking encounter, saying she was wearing headphones that are “quite noise cancelling”. She shared with her followers: “Walking for about 10 minutes up the road and I just get the urge to just turn around. […] There’s a man walking like one or two steps behind me,” reports the Mirror.
She explained how the man “startled” her and despite an initial “panic” she reasoned with herself to stay calm and not overthink it. “He was very close and he was like making eye contact with me when I turned around,” she added.
Taking swift action, Patsy crossed the street, but upon looking back, noticed the man had followed. “Turn around, he’s crossed the road. He’s on the other side of the road as well,” she revealed.
Pondering whether it was a strange fluke, she noted parked cars on that side and wondered if the man was headed to one of them; nevertheless, she decided to cross back again.
At this point, Patsy recalled thinking: “This is gonna be really awkward but now I’m gonna cross the road back over again just to get away from him for sure and make sure I know that he’s definitely not following me.”
Finishing her tale, she said, “Cross the road, back over to the original side that I was on, I look over across the road and he’s crossing back to the original side that we were both on.”
With a sense of unease, she concluded: “Now we’re both back on the other side of the road so I just thought ‘oh my God, what do I do?'”
The content creator seemed to reveal that she abruptly “stopped dead in [her] tracks”. Patsy explained that she chose to stand still, advising her viewers: “If he’s got somewhere to be, he’s gonna carry on walking isn’t he?”
She then appeared to inform her fans that the man continued walking towards a zebra crossing at the end of the street. She noted that he crossed the zebra crossing, adding: “Just as he’s about to go out of sight, like away, he stops, he turns back around and he just starts walking back towards me.
“So he’s on the other side of the road but he’s walking towards me and looking at me so I’m still stood where I stopped,” she shared. Patsy added: “As he gets closer to me, he just starts crossing the road back towards me and then I thought ‘run’. I literally started screaming.”
Patsy revealed that she immediately phoned her mum, informing her that someone was “following” her. She continued: “So I run as fast as I can out of the way and he doesn’t follow me, as far as I’m aware.”
She seemed to say: “I didn’t look back I just kept f****** running.”
She shared that her mum came to pick her up. Patsy expressed that the incident felt like “too much of a coincidence”, adding: “Now I’m scared to walk in my own area which is a shame cause I’ve never had an issue before.”
Before ending the video message, she issued a warning to others: “Stay safe girls.”
Patsy’s post has garnered over 40,000 likes on the platform. Fans have been sharing supportive messages in the comments section, with the reality TV star receiving well wishes and advice from some of her followers on TikTok after sharing the video.
