Gregg Wallace has clapped back at a comment from a fan.

An Instagram user appeared to be referencing the allegations of misconduct against him during his time at the BBC.

In a recent Instagram post, Wallace shared a video of himself and wife Anna celebrating their ninth wedding anniversary. However, the comment section became a forum for discussing the scandal surrounding Wallace.

One comment aimed at Wallace read: “Are your trousers up or down…asking for a friend,” to which Wallace responded clarifying: “No allegations of that type were upheld. What made you think they were, please?”

Wallace recently stepped down from his role on MasterChef amid allegations of misconduct on the MasterChef set and issued an apology, stating that he was “deeply sorry for any distress caused” and that he “never set out to harm or humiliate”.

The final series of amateur MasterChef featuring Wallace and John Torode was released on BBC iPlayer after both presenters were let go from the popular cooking show, reports the Mirror.

The first three episodes of the 21st series were made available on iPlayer early on 6 August, before the first episode aired on BBC One at 8pm.

Both presenters are featured in the introductory shots of the first episode, with Torode stating: “This is the sort of stuff that dreams are made of”, while Wallace can be seen complimenting a contestant saying: “That is a cracker of a job”.

The BBC confirmed last month that the series, filmed prior to the allegations against Wallace and Torode being upheld, would air in August. The corporation added that it was “not an easy decision in the circumstances.”

They said: “After careful consideration and consultation with the contestants, we have decided to broadcast the amateur series of MasterChef on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 6 August.”
