Former Busted star Matt Willis is back in the public eye as he continues his foray into TV presenting with wife Emma, but he admitted that one of his hobbies has left Emma seething
Matt Willis says one of his “addictions” is “ruining” his marriage to darling wife Emma.
Both Matt and Emma are making waves in the presenting game as they present the British version of Netflix ‘s smash hit Love is Blind. The pair appear to have an unshakeable marriage dynamic, but in a recent interview – it was revealed one of Matt’s hobbies could drive a wedge between the pair.
Speaking to the Mirror, the Busted singer, 42, revealed that one of his new hobbies is slowly taking over his life. This is coming to the detriment of former Big Brother host and fan fave Emma, 49, who says it is beneficial “for him” and not her.
The pair admitted that golf causing having for the pair, as Matt revealed: “I’m obsessed, it’s slowly ruining my life – but in the greatest possible way!” A clearly unenthused Emma fired back: “For him!”
Matt says he understands his wife’s frustrations, but insisted he would not be giving golf up anytime soon: “I’ve got rules about it – I didn’t get told to make these rules, I made them on my own. I don’t play when it interferes with family time; I go when the kids are at school – I try not to make somebody a golf widow.”
Emma, for her part, admitted that she actually does not mind Matt going to the golf course to keep himself entertained; it’s the constant barrage of conversations about golf that rubs her the wrong way. “I’m only making digs about it because I don’t hear anything else now other than golf,” she jibed.
“I walk in the living room and it’s on the f****g telly,” she fumed. “The kids walk in, sigh and then they walk back out again.”
Matt eventually shot back, saying that he never had a hobby before, due to his huge career onstage. However, ever the cunning star, Emma fired back, referencing to his previous addictions to drugs and alcohol, joking: “You did, but they weren’t very good for you!”
However, despite the constant jabs at each other, the pair’s marriage is stronger than ever, and the couple consistently use humour as a way to show their love and appreciation for each other. But while they have a strong and stable marriage, Emma was adamant that they are not experts.
Looking back on her marriage to the former pop-punk star, Emma revealed what has kept their love for each other going for so long. “Love, time, commitment, compromise, f**k knows; I mean, hopefully we’ll still be going in another 20 years or 30 years or 40 years and then we’ll be in a box together!”
Emma and Matt first bumped into each other back in 2004 while Matt was at the height of his musical career, while Emma was seeing her presenting career take off on MTV. Since then, the pair have managed to have 17 years of wedded bliss, and have had three doting kids together – Isabelle, 16; Ace, 13 and Trixie, 9.
The pair officially tied the knot at a glamorous wedding in 2008 at Rushton Hall in Northamptonshire. Several major stars were invited to the wedding, including ITV favourites Holly Willoughby, Stephen Mulhern and Hollywood icon David Gest.
