TV presenter Emma Willis was forced to scold her husband Matt as he began discussing “hot girls” during a joint interview ahead of the return of their Netflix show Love Is Blind: UK
TV presenter Emma Willis was quick to silence her husband Matt during a joint interview when he started talking about “hot girls”. The couple, who met in 2004, were just beginning their successful careers in the entertainment industry.
At the time, Emma was hosting MTV’s TRL (Total Request Live) in the UK, which mainly featured actors and musicians. Meanwhile, Matt’s boyband Busted was enjoying huge success with two UK tours and hit singles.
In a recent interview with the i Paper to promote the new series of Netflix’s Love Is Blind: UK, which they co-host, Emma and Matt sat down together. However, their conversation took an awkward turn when the former Busted singer began reminiscing about one of their early encounters in the 2000s.
Matt recalled how he was immediately drawn to Emma after watching her present TRL and was impressed when they first spent time together: “I remember the first time I hung out with Emma. Nothing happened. But I walked back to my hotel thinking: ‘Oh my god! That is the coolest f**king girl I’ve ever met.’ I remember that very vividly.”
Matt recalled the first time he laid eyes on Emma while watching TV, saying: “I had seen her on TV and thought she was smoking hot but, oh this is going to sound awful,” reports Birmingham Live.
Emma cautioned him: “Don’t say it, then!” but Matt continued, revealing how his now-wife stood out from the other attractive women he met during his music career’s early days.
He explained: “Thing is, I wasn’t from a media world. I come from a little council estate. I felt like an imposter when Busted became successful and I had met quite a few hot girls – like really f**king hot – by the time I met Emma. But I had never been that impressed by them. Then Emma was also cool, fun, really normal.”
In a recent appearance on Rylan Clark’s How To Be In Love podcast, Emma shared her own memories of their first night out together.
She recounted how they met after filming separate MTV shows on the same night, which led to a “big group of us” having a “big drunken night out”.
Fast forward over 20 years, Emma and Matt have since tied the knot and have three children together: Isabelle (born June 2009), Ace (born November 2011), and Trixie (born May 2016).
Aside from her family affairs, Emma is slated to co-present Cooking with the Stars alongside Tom Allen tonight, as Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu, Hugh Dennis, Kelly Hoppen, and Shaun Wright-Phillips aim to wow the chefs and their loved ones, who will also be making an appearance.
Cooking with the Stars is due to air again tonight (Sunday, August 10) at 7pm on ITV.
