Back To The Future was the generation-defining movie which also starred Christopher Lloyd as mad scientist Dr Emmett Brown and was the highest grossing movie of 1985.
MICHAEL J Fox has launched an appeal to help find a missing guitar he used in Back To The Future.
The actor and guitar brand Gibson have launched the worldwide hunt for the original cherry red Gibson ES-345 guitar used in the 1985 flick.
The iconic instrument was used during the movie’s school dance scene, when Fox played the legendary song “Johnny B. Goode.”
But during the making of the 1989 sequel to the film, the filmmakers went to look for the guitar, and it was nowhere to be found.
Now, music fans worldwide have the chance to help Gibson find the most important guitar in cinema history.
Gibson are asking anyone with any tips as to where the instrument could be to come forward.
Stars have released a video begging for help, with actor Christopher Lloyd, in the cadence of Doc Brown, saying that it has been “lost to the future.”
Bob Gale, co-creator, screenwriter and producer of Back To The Future said: “Years ago, I was astonished to learn this beloved cinematic artifact had apparently disappeared into the space-time continuum.
“Since we don’t have a functioning time machine, this effort is probably our best chance to solve a decades-long mystery.”
Only a couple of years ago Michael J. Fox revealed he recently watched Back to the Future for the first time in more than 30 years – and it blew him away.
Specifically, the actor who played time travelling teenager Marty McFly in the 1985 classic family film, said it was his own performance that had left him impressed.
Describing the chance viewing, he said he heard the “bells” from the movie’s theme song on his TV while he was putting up his Christmas tree and was instantly transported back to the set in the 80s.
He told SiriusXM: “What happened was I had gone in the room and I heard the bells from the beginning of Back to the Future from the scene in the garage.
