Michael said: “I must have been about 12.

“I turned and I saw something come along the edge of the mountain, off in the distance.

“I stopped and then this light came out and then two lights behind it, and then three lights behind it… a sort of phalanx of lights coming from behind the mountain and floating out over the sea.”

He went on: “As I’m standing there I’m thinking, ‘I think those are UFOs. I’m fairly certain those are UFOs’.

“I thought, ‘I have to go into the house and tell my family that there are UFOs out here’.

“But I knew that if I went in, they might disappear, so I just stood there, transfixed, and I watched them come all out over the ocean.

“And then they stopped and then they all disappeared.”

Since the incident, Michael, 56, has been open to the idea that the supernatural is real.

The star thinks it would be mad to rule anything out.

He said: “What I believe is that we have no idea what’s going on.

“Everything that we understand is a working hypothesis, isn’t it?

“And we’re able to understand the world and process everything and move forward because we’ve got something that basically works.

“But the idea that it doesn’t have gaping holes in it seems ridiculous. So I am very open.”
