The Gallagher brothers are back on stage together once more as Oasis recently played two nights in Cardiff and Noel Gallagher admitted the real reason why they’re back
Noel Gallagher has finally explained the reason behind the Oasis reunion tour.
During the band’s second performance at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, an emotional Noel addressed the crowd while on stage with Liam. During the encore, Noel gave a special mention to Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs.
Introducing the band members, Noel joked about Oasis’ high drummer turnover, saying: “On drums, our 13th official drummer Joey Waronker,” reports the Mirror.
He continued, “On guitar, if it wasn’t for him none of this would have happened in the first place, Mr Bonehead.”
The UK has been gripped by Oasis mania once again, but not long ago it seemed unlikely that Noel and Liam would share the stage again following the band’s split in 2009.
Last year’s reunion announcement came 15 years after Noel left the Manchester band, stating he “simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer” after a backstage fight at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.
The siblings tore through their Cardiff setlist, opening with Hello from their second album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?
During the performance, the lead vocalist apologised to the audience for the lengthy delay in their reunion. Liam said: “Hello people, it’s been too long.”
Before playing ‘Cigarettes And Alcohol’, Liam encouraged audience members to show affection, instructing fans to turn around and hug a stranger. He said: “Right then beautiful people, I want to see you all turn around and put your arms round each other. And when the tune starts, jump up and f****** down.”
They also made a poignant tribute to Diogo Jota, the Liverpool footballer who tragically passed away in a car accident on Thursday 3 July, with his picture displayed on the screens prompting a heartfelt cheer and applause from the audience.
