Julia Volkova, one half of Russian duo Tatu, looks nothing like her former self 23 years after the pair smooched in the rain in the music video for All The Things She Said
Russian songstress Julia Volkova has undergone a glamorous transformation since her chart-topping days with Tatu more than two decades ago. In 2002, Julia and her bandmate Lena Katina sent shockwaves with their hit single All The Things She Said, which reached No1 in several countries, including the UK. However, it was the accompanying music video – featuring the duo dressed as schoolgirls sharing a steamy kiss in the rain – that really sparked controversy.
The pair repeated the kiss on stage, but it was later revealed to be a clever marketing ploy.
Fast-forward 23 years, and Julia is almost unrecognisable from her Tatu days. More recent Instagram snaps show her sporting long, dark locks – a far cry from her signature short pixie cut.
Gone are the pleated skirts and school ties, replaced by more sophisticated and elegant looks.
In one photo, Julia poses in black leggings and a green t-shirt, her dark hair cascading down her face in a sleek bob. Standing in front of a grey sofa, she strikes a pose with one hand on her hip, exuding confidence and style.
Fans were quick to praise her chic new look, calling her “beautiful” and “a queen”. “Omg, is that really you!!?” asked one admirer, while another fan confessed: “My crush.”
“My favourite, love you, my princess,” gushed another devotee. “You’re still the prettiest woman in the world,” gushed another admirer.
“A beautiful soul, a beautiful heart and a beautiful body.
“You are wonderful,” wrote one fan. Another referred to the brunette as a “sweet princess”.
Some expressed their desire to see Julia and Lena reunite musically. “Of course it would be nice if you and Lena sing again together,” one commented.
Another eagerly asked: “New Tatu album?”
