Oasis won’t be singing the track as it uses lyrics written by disgraced pop star Gary Glitter, who was jailed for 16 years for abusing three school girls between 1975 and 1980

Oasis have reportedly axed a huge song from their upcoming reunion tour over its links to a disgraced paedophile.

Britpop brothers Noel, 57, and Liam Gallagher, 52, announced their hotly-anticipated reunion tour last August. The Live ’25 tour will see the once-feuding siblings fill stadiums such as London’s Wembley and Manchester’s Heaton Park before heading across the pond to play in LA, Chicago and Mexico City.

It’s believed fans won’t be hearing Oasis’ track Hello, the first on their 1995 album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?. It’s said the band have decided not to play it on the tour as it quotes lyrics from the convicted paedo Gary Glitter.

Oasis’ song Hello references the disgraced pop star’s 1973 hit Hello, Hello, I’m Back Again. In the outro, Liam repeats the line: “Hello, hello, it’s good to be back, it’s good to be back” as the melody of the original plays underneath.

Glitter and his record producer Mike Leander also got a writing credit on the Oasis record alongside Noel, who wrote all of the other tracks. A source told The Sun: “The lyrics of the song would obviously have been a good fit for the reunion tour but the band have decided to leave it in the past.

“It would be inappropriate to play it given its connotations to Glitter and his convictions.” The track opens with a tease of the band’s mega-hit Wonderwall, the third track on the album, before the actual song kicks in.

Gary Glitter, real name Paul Francis Gadd, was sentenced to 16 years in prison back in 2015 after he was found guilty of sexually abusing three school girls between 1975 and 1980. He was initially released in February 2023 after serving half of his sentence.

However, he was thrown behind bars again after it was found he’d breached his license conditions by allegedly viewing downloaded images of children. In March 2006, he was convicted of abusing two girls, aged 10 and 11, in Vietnam and was jailed for two and a half years.

Liam and Noel were recently spotted together as they prepare for their tour. Snaps showed Liam beaming as they arrived at a working men’s club in Newington Green in London before they hit the road.

Oasis broke up back in 2009 after a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, which led to Noel leaving the band. The brothers were feuding for years, but fans had always clung onto the hope that they would eventually reunite.

Their dreams came true last year when the band announced in an epic statement: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over.”

The first Oasis gigs will be at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 4 and 5. It’ll be the first time Noel and Liam have performed together since 2009.
