Oasis is getting back together to play 17 Brit concerts on its Live ’25 tour and the must-see concerts are expected to trigger a monumental summer spending spree
Oasis fans will need Wonderwall-ets to see their reunion gigs – as the sell-out tour will set them back more than £1bn, bank bosses say.
That is what lovers of the Gallagher brothers will collectively spend attending the concerts across the UK, according to finance chiefs at Barclays. The band – which has sold more than 70 million records worldwide – is getting back together to play 17 Brit gigs on the Oasis Live ’25 Tour.
The must-see event is expected to trigger a monumental summer spending spree. Seeing just one of the concerts is likely to set a fan back £766 including money for tickets, accommodation, travel, clothing, merchandise and food and drinks.
That would add up to a collective spend of £1.06bn across the tour. A survey commissioned by the bank found a large portion of ticket-holders were long-time fans of the band which formed in Manchester in 1991.
Many had either seen them play live before or Noel or Liam Gallagher perform separately. Some vowed to embrace the ‘90s by wearing baggy jeans, bucket hats, parkas and sneakers.
Many are planning Gallagher brothers-inspired haircuts. Some want to have an authentic ’90s experience by avoiding using their phones.
Barclays chiefs said the vast cash outlayed on the tour was part of a shift towards consumers prioritising memorable experiences over physical things – known as the ‘experience economy’.
The survey found a quarter of people plan to spend more on enjoying experiences and attending events this summer than last year.
Rich Robinson, head of hospitality and leisure at Barclays, said: “The experience economy is no longer a trend – it’s a fundamental shift in how consumers determine their financial priorities. “Just as we saw with last year’s Taylor Swift Eras Tour fans are willing to go to great lengths when there is an emotional connection.”
The survey for the bank – which handles nearly 40% of the nation’s credit and debit card transactions – was carried out by Opinium Research and involved 2,000 Brits. It was supplemented by research specifically among 200 Oasis ticket-holders.
Liam, 52, and Noel, 57, buried the hatchet last year following a 15-year feud. They are expected to pocket at least £50million each from the tour.
The pair – whose hits include Wonderwall, Roll With It, Champagne Supernova and Don’t Look Back In Anger – have trademarked the band’s name ahead of the opening gig. That means they could launch their own range of Oasis grub, booze and toiletries.
