As Oasis returned to Manchester for the first of their Heaton Park homecoming gigs, some fans have been able to listen for free from the comfort of their own homes
They may not have nabbed a ticket, but they’ve got a rather splendid view – from the back of their own garden.
Some fortunate fans have managed to enjoy Oasis’ first homecoming gig without spending a penny.
Oasis fever has taken hold as the band graced the Heaton Park stage for an incredibly special moment in music history – and the sun made an appearance for the grand event.
The legendary Manchester group, fronted by Liam and Noel Gallagher, launched the first of their shows at Heaton Park tonight (July 11) with nearly 80,000 fans present – many hailing from the city itself and others who have journeyed from across the globe for the unique gig.
The Manchester performances, set to run until July 20, follow the initial two nights of the Live ’25 tour in Cardiff last week.
Tonight marks the first of the Manchester concerts, and while thousands revel inside Heaton Park, plenty have retreated to their back gardens to savour the melodies.
One user penned: “How many people near Heaton park be out in gardens listening to oasis tonight lucky t**ts. can hear from Failsworth but sh**e.”
Posting onto X, journalist Angela Epstein remarked: “I can hear every [note] of oasis from my back garden and didn’t pay a penny. They’re singing hello and the crowd are going nuts.”
One social media user posted: “Sat in the back garden and can hear the build up to oasis heaton park.
“I’ll be there Wednesday, 50 min walk from my house.
“Free concert tonight! Last time I saw oasis was in heaton park, cannot f***in wait man.”
Another chimed in with: “Sat in the garden at home having a beer, listening to the concert at Heaton Park even though i live 7 miles away so can’t actually hear anything. #GoodTimes #Oasis.
“However, not everyone was thrilled, as one disgruntled user wrote: “Actually just tormenting being able to hear oasis from the garden and not being there. “Reporter Chris Slater, who is on location at Heaton Park, shared images of people gathered outside the park on Sheepfoot Lane to listen to the set.He tweeted: “Loads of people without tickets are sitting out on the grass on Sheepfoot Lane to listen to Oasis who are due on stage at Heaton Park in around 5 minutes.
