Liam Gallagher has confirmed what many music fans have long suspected – that he and his brother Noel Gallagher are polar opposites.
Despite their well-known feuds, the brothers appear to have made peace for the Oasis reunion tour.
However, Liam, 52, insists they remain fundamentally different. He even agrees with Noel’s comparison from the 2016 documentary Supersonic, where Noel likened himself to a cat and Liam to a dog.
“Without a doubt,” Liam concurs in an interview included in the new book A Sound So Very Loud. “He’s arrogant, sticks his a*** up, comes and goes as he pleases… loves being stroked. Total tart. Loves you when he wants. I only get took out on a lead.”

In the documentary, Noel, 58, admitted: “I’m a cat. That’s just what I am. I’ve accepted it. I’m a bit of a b*******.”
In the book, Liam also boasts about the band’s wild antics in their early days and laments how times have changed. “The Benny Hill element has gone from rock ‘n’ roll,” he declares, reports the Mirror.
Noel also discloses the real reason behind their notorious ferry altercation in 1994, which scuppered Oasis’s opportunity to perform in Amsterdam. The incident, which occurred just as the band were gaining recognition, resulted in Liam and the rest of the group being arrested.
According to Noel, the incident had nothing to do with a reported altercation with football fans. Instead, it was sparked by Liam walking past a roulette table and grabbing the ball, prompting a police officer to confront him and threaten to arrest him, along with Oasis bassist Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan.

Noel recounts: “Guigsy says that the copper told Liam he was going to arrest him. Liam goes, ‘You and whose f***ing army?’ Except he never got as far as the word ‘whose’. In one movement they had him on the floor with his arm behind his back.”
The band resumed their tour last Friday in Cardiff, 16 years after what appeared to be their final show. They are set to perform in Manchester this Friday.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Liam may face a hostile reception at the homecoming gigs at Heaton Park if he continues to ask the crowd to “do the Poznan”.
During the Cardiff shows, he encouraged fans to turn around and bounce up and down during the song Cigarettes and Alcohol, saying: “I don’t ask you to do the Mexican wave or sh*t like that, but I want you to do the poznan so everyone turn around and put your hands on each other. It’s 2025, don’t be shy. When the tunes start, you jump up and down, it’s very easy, you don’t need GCSEs.”

However, the Poznan is a celebration traditionally associated with Manchester City, and with thousands of Manchester United fans expected to be in attendance at Heaton Park, Liam’s request may not go down well. An insider revealed to the Mirror: “Liam loves seeing the crowd do it, but it will be a higher risk strategy at Heaton Park. It will be no surprise if he does do it or gives City a shout-out on stage because he and Noel are such big fans. Bonehead is the only red (United fan) in the line-up.”
