Ozzy Osbourne buried in his garden as Sharon joined by mourners including Elton John

Ozzy Osbourne has been laid to rest at his Buckinghamshire home, following a public tribute procession through Birmingham on Wednesday. Sharon was joined by her children Jack, Kelly and rarely-seen daughter Aimee in Birmingham as fans gathered to pay tribute. The Black Sabbath was then laid to rest today at his Buckinghamshire home, which he had requested.

Mourners expected to attend Thursday’s private ceremony included Elton John and Metallica frontman James Hetfield. Marquees and a stage were put up by a lake on the grounds of the Osbourne mansion where he was to be buried.

Guests sat under cover after showers of rain hit the area earlier on. They were also provided with catering.

Security had been in place from early in the morning to make sure only those who had been invited were able to come in, as per Sharon’s wishes.

Bodyguards and dog handlers patrolled the perimeter of the expansive grounds, while traffic marshals helped people get through the narrow country lane to the home.

While the ceremony was invite-only, fans did leave floral tributes outside the gates.

It was reported by The Sun that singer Yungblud, who had become close with Ozzy, would be in attendance and would be giving a reading.

He spoke of his funeral plans back in 2011, telling Times: “I want to make sure it’s a celebration, not a mope-fest. I’d also like some pranks – maybe the sound of knocking inside the coffin, or a video of me asking my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of ‘death’.

“There’ll be no harping on the bad times. It’s worth remembering that a lot of people see nothing but misery their whole lives.

“So by any measure, most of us in this country – especially rock stars like me – are very lucky. That’s why I don’t want my funeral to be sad – I want it to be a time to say, ‘Thanks’.”

He also said in his 2010 autobiography I Am Ozzy: “Eventually death will come, like it comes to everyone.

“I’ve said to Sharon: ‘Don’t cremate me, whatever you do.’ I want to be put in the ground, in a nice garden somewhere, with a tree planted over my head.

“A crabapple tree, preferably, so the kids can make wine out of me and get p***** out of their heads.

“As for what they’ll put on my headstone, I ain’t under any illusions. If I close my eyes, I can already see it. Ozzy Osbourne, born 1948. Died, whenever. He bit the head off a bat.”

On Wednesday, crowds lined the streets of Birmingham to give the rock icon a proper send off.

A hearse carrying Ozzy’s coffin, and a floral arrangement of purple petals in the shape of his name, left Villa Park and passed his childhood home in Aston at around midday, before heading to Broad Street in the city.

The procession stopped at Black Sabbath Bridge bench, where the Osbourne family got out of cars which were following to take time to read the tributes. Sharon was also pictured placing a black rose.

Ozzy sadly died at the age of 76 last week, just weeks after his final gig with Black Sabbath.
