Sharon Osbourne has spoken about her late husband Ozzy Osbourne and the final concert that he performed at before his death, as well as his thoughts about his fans
Sharon Osbourne, the widow of the late Ozzy Osbourne, has shared a poignant comment made by her husband about his fans prior to his death.
Last month, it was announced that Ozzy had passed away at the age of 76 on July 22. The news came just over a fortnight after he had reunited with his former Black Sabbath bandmates for his farewell gig, Back to the Beginning, in Birmingham on July 5.
In an interview published this week, Sharon, 72, opened up about the concert, which took place just five days before Ozzy’s death. This follows emotional scenes at Ozzy’s funeral where Sharon was seen breaking down in tears.

Speaking to Pollstar on July 17, Sharon revealed that Ozzy was taken aback by the level of support he received on the night of the concert at Villa Park. She told the outlet that they sold 40,000 seats at the stadium itself, and the one-off gig was also livestreamed.
She remembered: “He turned around and he said to me that night, he said ‘I had no idea that so many people liked me’.” When asked why he would have felt like that, Sharon explained that her husband had “always” lived in his “own bubble”.
Sharon described Back to the Beginning, which is set to be released as a concert film next year, as a “huge success”. She hailed it as a “phenomenal event” and highlighted that it was raising money for three charities.
She revealed that it marks the first occasion an artist has bid farewell through a livestreamed charity performance, reports the Mirror.
Sharon commented in the interview published earlier this week: “So it’s the first time anybody has said goodnight like that, it’s the perfect way, when you’ve had such a long career, to end it.”
The former X Factor panellist, who previously managed Ozzy, explained she had always envisioned her husband concluding his career with a “big event”. Sharon told the publication: “I never wanted Ozzy to just disappear without some big event.”
She described it as the “best way” to bow out. Sharon noted that it brought him “home” to Birmingham “where it all started” and took place at his favourite venue, which hosts his “beloved” Aston Villa. She declared it was “just perfect”.
The lead-up to the gig will feature in the forthcoming documentary Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, scheduled for BBC release on August 18. The project, originally tracking Ozzy and Sharon’s return to the UK, was captured across three years.
It’s been billed as a “moving and inspirational account of the last chapter of Ozzy’s life,” with the broadcaster noting it showcases the legendary rocker and his family.
