Ozzy Osbourne will be laid to rest in his beloved Birmingham today as his private funeral takes place and the rocker’s rarely seen children will say their final goodbyes
Aimee Osbourne has always maintained a low profile and avoiding the limelight – unlike her famous family members. The same can be said for Ozzy’s children, Jessica and Louis, from his first marriage to Thelma Riley.
Their father and Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy, passed away on July 22, with his family confirming the heartbreaking news in an official statement. Aimee could be seen standing with her mum and siblings at the funeral as she threw up a peace sign in an ode to her famous dad.
Today, Ozzy will embark on his final journey through his beloved Birmingham as he is laid to rest. This comes as Ozzy’s wife Sharon made a remarkable gesture ahead of the star’s funeral.
Ozzy’s private funeral is taking place just over a week after his unexpected death. His family have chosen to give fans one last opportunity to pay their respects to the legendary rocker with a special procession down Broad Street in the city.
The procession will pass the Black Sabbath bridge and bench, where hundreds of floral tributes have been left for the music icon. Ozzy’s family – including wife Sharon – followed in the special procession that was accompanied by a live brass band; Bostin’ Brass, reports the Mirror.
The procession begins at 1pm, with Broad Street closed to traffic from 7am. Ozzy’s family are footing the bill, with the council assisting with the road closure.
In a heart-wrenching statement released last week, Ozzy’s family announced his passing: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
Ozzy’s death occurred just weeks after Black Sabbath’s final farewell performance. The 76 year old rock legend had been battling Parkinson’s disease since his diagnosis in 2019.
The rocker’s seldom-seen children, Aimee, Jessica, and Louis, will all be present to bid their father farewell. Ozzy’s two children with Sharon, Kelly and Jack, will also be there to lay their father to rest.
The Osbournes burst onto our screens in 2002, giving MTV viewers a peek into the chaos of Ozzy and Sharon’s household with Kelly, 39, and Jack, 38.
However, many fans were unaware that Celebrity Big Brother star Sharon and Black Sabbath icon Ozzy had another child; Aimee, now 41.
While her younger siblings embraced the fame that The Osbournes brought them, Aimee chose privacy, moving out of the family home at 16 when they embarked on their reality TV journey.
“I’m not some weirdo depressed daughter that’s afraid of the world and locks herself in her room all day; I just didn’t choose to do the show,” Aimee has candidly stated on American television.
“I want to be a singer, and I felt if I’d stayed with the Osbournes and done the whole thing I would have been typecast right away. [Mum] was hurt and we definitely had a tough time with disagreements. I’m more reserved and my private life is very important.”
Aimee made the bold decision to step out of the spotlight at just 16 when her family’s reality show began filming – a choice that Sharon Osbourne has since admitted she regrets.
Now 41, Aimee seems to be opening up more about her personal life, regularly sharing updates about her music on Instagram.
