Paranormal investigator Dan Rivera has died while touring the US with a haunted Annabelle doll, which inspired a horror film. The US army veteran died on July 13, with the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR) sharing the sad news.
In a Facebook tribute about the 54-year-old, they wrote: “It’s with deep sadness that Tony, Wade, and I share the sudden passing of our close friend and partner, Dan Rivera. We are heartbroken and still processing this loss.”
It went on: “Dan truly believed in sharing his experiences and educating people on the paranormal. His kindness and passion touched everyone who knew him. Thank you for your support and kind thoughts during this difficult time.”

His cause of death has not yet been revealed. According to USA Today, Adams County dispatch scanner archives show that emergency services had been called to a Gettysburg hotel on the evening of July 13 over reports of CPR in progress for a man the same age as Dan.
Dan was part of the so-called Devils On The Run Tour, which had gone viral due to he and other guides travelling what is believed to be a possessed Annabelle doll.
The tour had been in Gettysburg at the Soldiers National Orphanage. It’s reported that it was sold out, with the group having flogged 1,260 tickets for three days.
The Annabelle doll dates back to the 1970s, though it grew in popularity in 2013 thanks to the horror movie The Conjuring.

Back in the ’70s, a nursing student received the toy from her mother. However soon, her roommate started noticing weird paranormal things happening around their home, which grew in severity.
According to paranormal legend, Annabelle was possessed by something “demonic and inhuman”. It was eventually given to Ed and Lorraine Warren, who collect paranormal artefacts.
Lorraine had mentored Dan, he said, and he told those on the tour: “What Lorraine would say to protect yourself is to close your eyes and envision yourself in a halo of white light.”
It’s not yet clear what will happen to the tour after Dan’s tragic death.
