Peter Andre’s wife Dr Emily MacDonagh has confessed that she was once banned from the Mysterious Girl singer’s bedroom for a year as the I’m A Celeb star laid down some ground rules
Peter Andre’s wife has admitted that he once banned her from the bedroom.
Dr Emily MacDonagh, who works for the NHS and married the Mysterious Girl singer back in 2015, has revealed that she was not allowed to share a bedroom with him for a year when they first started dating.
Peter had his children Princess and Junior during a previous marriage to former glamour model Katie Price, making Emily their stepmother.
When asked if she immediately took on the role of stepmother, Emily replied: “Not straightaway as a stepmom, but that is a role you are instantly kind of in! You’ve got two children in your lives straight away.”
“It sort of built slowly, because I think I wouldn’t expect to step into that role immediately and I was young as well, so I think we were always really cautious in the beginning about how much I was around. We joke about this now with the kids, it’s so funny, but we didn’t share a bedroom for the first year that we were together.”
“When the kids were there, because he wanted to be respectful, and I actually really admired that at the time, that he always would put them first in everything. I thought that was really lovely.”
Emily also expressed her gratitude for being “accepted” by her stepchildren: “I always feel lucky that they’ve kind of accepted me into their family. When we had Millie and Theo, and Belle as well, it kind of cements you even more as a family. But I always feel like I’m not their mum, and that’s something I always have to make sure I tread carefully with. I always see it, I think I would see it a bit more like being a big sister,” reports the Mirror.
“I don’t know if that’s the right way to look at it, but I think I always try and give them guidance, but I wouldn’t overstep that. I obviously try and support them like I would do with my own kids.”
Emily opened up about her parenting style of Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast Happy Mum Happy Baby and explained that she is “quite strict on her kids”.
“That’s what I would say to the older kids: ‘It’s lucky there’s an age gap,’ you know? Because then you guys don’t need to worry about silly rules I have, screen time and stuff like that. I’m like: ‘You guys can be exempt because you’re older.’ The age gap is enough that my kids don’t ask the question: ‘Well, why are they allowed to have the screens?'”
