EXCLUSIVE: Jafaican star Peter Andre has spoken exclusively to Daily Star and admitted that he took home the outfits he wore while filming, but he won’t be putting them on any time soon
Peter Andre took home some of the outfits he wore in Jafaican.
The Mysterious Girl singer is focussing on his acting career and recently starred in Fredi Nwaka’s Jafaican, which follows his character Gary Buckle.
The wheeler dealer pretends to be a Jamaican criminal while sporting a dreadlock wig and attempting a Jamaican accent, all in the hopes he can nab £35,000 for his grandma’s care home fees.
Peter spoke exclusively to Daily Star and admitted that he took the clothes he wore back home after filming wrapped: “Yeah, I have kept some of the props from Jafacian and I’ve got some of the outfits which are quite hilarious!”
“But I don’t think I’ll ever be putting them on again, although we have already set the film up for a sequel but it’ll be in a different country and playing a different character, but Gary Buckle will remain so I’ve got all of his clothes.”
“Most of them I liked and I kept anyway!”
Fans of Jafaican may not realise that Jafaican has a hidden message that they might not notice during their first watch.
Andre told us that the plot is actually “a love story hidden under a heist” and urged critics to watch the film themselves before passing judgement.
“Honestly, I loved playing the character of Gary Buckle. He was funny, warm and a really silly crook, not very good at his job.”
“When he went to Jamaica to try and pull off the heist, he was never going to be very good at that either. That was the whole point of the film – what depth and lengths you would go to to help the person that you love? In Gary’s case, that was his grandmother.”
As for the mixed reviews, Peter acknowledged that it is “really important for people to have different opinions” and that “critics should be able to criticise”.
He explained: “In regards to critics, I think it’s very easy to criticise something based on a trailer. I would say: ‘Go and watch the film first and you will see what the film is about,’ you will see the context.”
