Peter Andre has given his thoughts on Lady Gaga’s recent fall on stage, admitting that he’s been in a similar situation himself, but he would be “reminded” of it years later
Peter Andre has shared what he describes as one of the “most embarrassing moments of his life” while commenting on Lady Gaga’s recent stumble during a gig in the U.S.
The Abracadabra singer was launching the Mayhem Ball at T-Mobile Arena on 16 July in Las Vegas, Nevada – and was spotted losing her footing and tumbling over, as she moved towards the barricade to engage with fans, during a performance of her song Vanish Into You.
Footage shared online shows the star slipping as she walked past a cameraman, who nearly lost his balance too, just before she rather ironically belted out the lyrics, “Into the night… we fall,” and then hit the deck, landing on her backside – before bouncing back up like a pro and continuing her walk by the barricade.
Peter, best known for his 90s smash hit Mysterious Girl and currently working on a new album, said of the incident: “I saw Lady Gaga ‘s awkward faceplant at a gig. It’s awful when that happens. But I doubt she’ll be having sleepless nights over it – these things happen during live shows,” reports the Mirror.
He added, referencing the infamous moment when Madonna fell down steps during the 2015 Brit Awards while performing Living for Love, and sharing his own similar embarrassing experience: “Look at the Madonna incident, for example. Admittedly, on a smaller scale, it happened to me once on the T4 stage. Walking down steps, I tripped and fell. It was so embarrassing – and it was on TV. But people forget… until you remind them about it, which I just did.”
In a 2023 episode of Sky’s Extraordinary Life Stories, Peter recounted the humiliating moment to host John Reynolds, recalling the slip-up at the T4 on The Beach festival in 2009.
He reflected: “I appeared on the episode to discuss lots of topics, including my childhood, career highlights and family life. We also discussed the funny moments in my career, including my unfortunate trip off the stage at T4 On The Beach, among other things.”
The embarrassing incident happened while Peter was performing his song Behind Closed Doors. He lost his footing in front of the packed audience and fell off the stage entirely, also losing his glasses in the process.
However, in true professional style, he continued singing, undeterred by his lost glasses, and finished his song.
