Peter Andre’s wife exposes couple’s struggles and big marriage ‘compromise’

Peter Andre’s wife Emily MacDonagh has opened up about their different parenting styles and explained that the Mysterious Girl singer gets ‘worried’ about many different things

Peter Andre’s wife, Dr Emily MacDonagh, has shared intimate details of their marriage.

Emily spoke to The Mirror and highlighted how the Mysterious Girl hitmaker handles their children with a distinct approach. 35-year-old Emily adopts a more relaxed method when it comes to parenting their children, but she notes that Peter tends to get more “stressed” about safety in the house.

The family grew larger with the arrival of their third child Arabella in 2024, who joined siblings Theo, aged eight, and Amelia, 11. Peter also has two older children, Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, from his previous marriage to Katie Price.

With the addition of little Arabella, Emily and Peter found themselves baby-proofing their home once more: “He would have stair gates absolutely everywhere if he could, so we have compromised.”

“I have put a stair gate in the door that goes out of the kitchen because she can get to the stairs otherwise. The shape of our stairs means we can’t put a gate at the bottom, so I compromise with him,” reports the Mirror.

“We do have a stair gate at the kitchen door, which drives everybody nuts. We all end up climbing over it, because no one can ever open it, but that was a compromise. To me that’s fine because I want her to be safe. I think in my mind I’m able to think through calmly and be like: ‘Yeah, we can put that there and she’ll be safe.'”

Emily said that Peter “definitely worries more” whereas she will “think of it, deal with it and it’s done,” although she “understands why he worries”.

Her career as a doctor means that she can’t avoid worrying over the little ones when they show any symptoms of illness and “seeing the worst case scenarios” daily means that it “always plays on her mind”.

“Whereas it’s so much easier for Pete, he doesn’t really think like that. He’s much more able to just deal with what’s in front of him, and his brain doesn’t go: ‘Okay, well, it could be this, or it could be this, or it could be this’. That’s what my head does.”
