Piers Morgan’s ex-wife Marion Shalloe nearly died after a freak accident.

Former GMB host Piers was married to Marion from 1991 until 2008 – they share their three kids Albert, Stanley and Spencer. Sadly, they divorced and Piers would go on to tie the knot with journalist Celia Walden in 2010.

Marion was recently left “fighting for her life” after a horror accident several months ago that landed her in hospital for 218 days. Son Spencer revealed they had been told there was “little hope” that she would survive in the shocking update on social media.

He shared sweet snaps of mum Marion as they celebrated her walking out of the ward. She posed for a photo with sons Spencer and Albert as well as her hospital staff.

Spencer wrote: “Seven months ago our mum was involved in a freak accident which left her fighting for her life… We were told on more than one occasion that there was little hope if any but against all odds she hung on in there and thanks to the two heroic surgeons in the third pic and countless others at @chelwestft she left hospital today after 218 days on the ward.

He added: “The staff labelled her a minor miracle but they are the miracle workers. My family are eternally grateful for their incredible work. Never give up.” Piers’ son didn’t divulge exactly what happened during the accident.

The hospital staff cheered and clapped as Spencer’s mum walked out of the ward with the help of a crutch. She was inundated with supportive messages in the comments, with GMB host Susanna Reid writing: “The best news,” alongside a heart emoji.

One fan who had been saved at the same hospital commented: “Gosh so happy your mum is okay. Chelsea & Westminster saved my life too, they’re earth angels.”

Another penned: “I’m so happy to see dearest Marion finally walking out of there. My love to all of you and big love for Mazza, who is truly one incredible lady!!”

Piers said the divorce from Marion was “horrendous”. He told the Daily Mail: “I’ve only recently got divorced. There has to be a decent period before these things are done. The divorce was a pretty horrendous experience.

“The day Marion and I got divorced, I said, ‘You know what? We can both go away feeling awful about this, but let’s never mention it again.”

However despite the divorce, Piers has revealed that he and Marion are still on good terms with one another, saying on Good Morning Britain: “I don’t regret it because these things happen, but I’m pleased that we’ve stayed good friends, because it’s important for your kids,” he said.

“I produced three fantastic children with my ex-wife. The best advice I ever got was to speak to them every day – that’s when you need your ex to be very accommodating. I’ve spoken to my kids, with just a handful of exceptions, every day in the last nine years.”
