S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens is single for the first time in 20 years after she split from her Dancing on Ice boyfriend Brendyn Hatfield after three years together
S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens and her Dancing On Ice boyfriend have called it quits. Rachel, 47, said that the American pro dancer Brendyn Hatfield, 40, was her “soulmate” just nine months ago, but sources claim the pair drifted apart.
A friend told The Sun: “It is incredibly sad and a relatively recent thing. Both Rachel and Brendyn felt there was no way forward for them.”
The friend said that Brendyn and his young son have moved out of their shared family home, while Rachel took her two daughters to Marbella for some space. They added that the pair were struggling to make their blended family work and tensions hit bursting point.
The source continued: “It is obviously a huge transition for Rachel who has effectively been in a relationship for the past two decades – but she will doubtless be inundated with offers now she’s back on the market.
“It is heartbreaking but Rachel and Brendyn hope to maintain a friendship.”
Rachel met Brendyn on the fourteenth series of Dancing On Ice in 2022, and went official with their romance a few months later.
Back in May, the couple seemed to be going strong. In a Q&A on Instagram, fans asked how her boyfriend was. Alongside a sweet snap of herself and Brendyn, she responded: “Really good thank you” alongside a smiley love heart emoji.
However, the last time she posted on her grid about him was back in January, to mark the dancer’s 40th birthday. She wrote: “Celebrating my today. My love, my soul mate. Happiest of birthdays my darling and welcome to the 40s club.
“Hope this is your best decade yet full of everything you wish for. I love you with all my heart.”
The singer, who won two Brit awards with S Club 7, had only split from her childhood sweetheart in July of 2022. She announced her split from estate agent Alex Bourne, just one month shy of their 13th wedding anniversary.
In a candid conversation with OK! earlier this year, she revealed that the divorce from Alex and other big life changes prompted a deep reassessment of her priorities.
She told the magazine: “With the divorce, moving, and selling our family home, my life really took a new direction. It’s been a huge change, but it’s been for the better.”
Despite the many changes in recent years, Rachel emphasised that being there for her two daughters, Amelie, 14, and Minnie, 11, remains her main priority.
Speaking about the divorce on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, Rachel compared it to “jumping off a cliff.”
She admitted: “It’s a lot of navigating, especially with the girls because they’ve always been at the forefront. I’m very lucky, their dad is a great dad and we’ve always been so aligned with keeping them really safe in it and being really honest.”
