The father of pop megastar Rihanna has died aged 70, it is reported.
Ronald Fenty died in Los Angeles after battling an undisclosed illness, a source with direct knowledge is reported to have told TMZ.
The shock news comes after Rihanna’s brother Rajad Fenty was photographed arriving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday. It is reported that Rihanna was also in the car, although she’s not visible in the photo.
Rihanna’s relationship with dad Ronald was rocky over the years as she openly spoke about her violent dad’s battle with drug and alcohol addictions and the two were estranged for a long period of time before eventually reconciling.

She told Rolling Stone magazine how he would beat her mother, and even hit her once too, and revealed she would try and get between her parents to break up a fight and once tried to distract them by breaking a glass bottle.
She said: “Domestic violence is not something that people want anybody to know, so she would just hide it in the house.”
Rihanna’s parents eventually divorced when she was 14 years old, and she took over as her younger brother’s carer while her mum worked full-time.

But the billionaire singer eventually made peace with her dad and in 2013, she quietly put him through a $58,000 Malibu rehab program.
And in 2020, Ronald told how his devoted daughter, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, sent a ventilator to his home, and checked on him every day after he tested positive for coronavirus.
In 2022, Ronald said he was was “ecstatic” at the news that his pop superstar daughter is expecting her first baby with rapper A$AP Rocky.

The pregnancy was revealed after the happy couple were pictured in New York City debuting her baby bump. Ronald told the Sun at the time: “She called me and said she had some good news for me and I automatically knew what it was. “
And in February 2023, Ronald told TMZ he was “over the moon” about his daughter and A$AP Rocky expecting another child together and was eager to be a part of the baby’s life.
Rihanna — who shares sons RZA, two, and Riot, 21 months, with A$AP — is currently pregnant with their third child. Ronald shared thee children with his ex-wife, Monica Braithwaite — Rihanna, Rajad and Rorrey. The couple split in 2002, just as Rihanna’s career was starting to take off.
