Robbie Williams revealed the heart-wrenching news that his mother, Janet, 84, no longer recognises him due to her struggles with dementia. The singer shared this emotional update during a recent concert in Germany as part of his Britpop Tour.

He said: “My mother has dementia and she doesn’t know who I am anymore. She doesn’t know where she is anymore.”

Robbie also discussed the health challenges faced by his father, Peter, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, and his mother-in-law, who is battling multiple illnesses. He shared: “My dad has Parkinson’s and he can’t leave the house.”

Reflecting on fond memories, Robbie mentioned that his father used to join him on stage, charming the audience before heading backstage for a glass of red wine. However, those days are now behind them.

Robbie candidly admitted that navigating these life challenges at the age of 51 feels surreal. He confessed: “It’s a strange place to be, this place we find ourselves, 51 years old, it’s very strange to be the grown-up.”

He added, “I’m not ready for it.”

This isn’t the first time Robbie has spoken about his mother’s dementia battle, having previously acknowledged the inevitability of her no longer recognising him. He reflected: “I’m in a different part of my life right now.”

In other news, it was recently reported that Robbie is in line for a knighthood for his contributions to music and charity. Robbie Williams has cemented his status as a British music icon, matching The Beatles’ record of 15 number one albums in the UK and boasting an unprecedented 18 BRIT Awards.

The singer-songwriter is also the mastermind behind the Soccer Aid charity football match, which has generated a staggering £106 million for UNICEF since its inception in 2006.

BBC Radio 2 host Scott Mills is among those championing Robbie for a knighthood. Mills expressed his support to The Sun’s Bizarre column, stating: “I think Robbie should be knighted, 100 per cent. For his contribution to music alone.”

Mills highlighted Robbie’s remarkable achievements, saying: “Let’s not forget, he’s the most decorated BRITS winner in history. I think we should celebrate and acknowledge how much joy he has brought.”

Mills also praised Robbie’s courage in confronting his personal struggles in the public eye, adding: “He deserves it. Not only for his contribution to music, but also for fighting his demons in the public eye and coming out the other side.

“He should be acknowledged for his honesty and bravery. He really is a role model.”
