Sabrina Carpenter’s new album Man’s Best Friend is a raw voyage through pain, sarcasm and surviving heartbreak, and fans are convinced it paints an incredibly vivid picture of her on again off again romance with Barry Keoghan.

Although Sabrina does not name him directly, the final track Goodbye is heavy with emotion. In one gut punch line she sings: “Broke my heart on Saturday… and I have cried so much I almost fainted.” It is an unflinching portrait of sudden abandonment and suggests it was Barry who walked away, perhaps not for the final time.

Elsewhere, fans believe Sabrina’s pointed lyrics about a partner with a wandering heart in Never Getting Laid allude to Keoghan’s potential infidelity, while Go Go Juice cheekily references exes via the rhyme game she plays in the lyrics.

It is one thing to pen heartbreak, but Sabrina has also spoken candidly about life after the split. In a recent Rolling Stone interview she jabbed at the scrutiny of her private life, saying: “Am I doing the single thing right now I am doing the 25 year old thing right now, whatever that means.” She acknowledged how hard it is “navigating relationships, and then having a bunch of strangers have opinions on them.”

The breakup reportedly happened in December 2024. A source told People that both were “young and career focused,” suggesting it was a mutual decision to part ways.

Meanwhile Barry appears to have quietly stepped back from social media amid rumours and harassment. People reports he deactivated his Instagram after enduring “disgusting commentary,” especially with the impact it could have had on his young son.

As Sabrina transforms her heartbreak into a “party for pain”, she dubbed Man’s Best Friend just that on Instagram, fans are eating it up. With tracks dripping in emotional truth and a sound that is both savage and self aware, Carpenter is not just owning her story, she is serving it hot.
