South Park’s 27th season premiered earlier this week and has already sparked huge controversy with after the show aired a brutal dig at US President Donald Trump
South Park has been seriously affected after a recent episode slamming Donald Trump was aired.
The iconic cartoon show’s viewing figures have skyrocketed following a recent episode that delivered a savage assault the President. The animated programme, which has been broadcasting since 1997, kicked off its 27th series earlier this week.
During the episode Trump was presented with an official portrait and was clearly unimpressed with how his private parts had been painted. Several images were scattered throughout the cartoon White House, including one that showed the President in compromising circumstances with a sheep.
However, the most shocking scene featured a nude Trump in bed alongside Satan. The White House quickly responded to South Park’s controversial episode and released an official statement.
They declared: “This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention.”
“President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak.”
However, fresh figures reveal a huge boost in viewership for the season opener. According to Paramount the episode attracted nearly six million viewers across its own streaming service and Comedy Central, reports the Mirror.
The programme also reportedly “scored its biggest season premiere share on the cable network since 1999” with ratings surging 68% compared to the previous season.
