Stacey Solomon’s latest TV venture has received backlash as the third instalment of her new BBC series is set to air. Reality show Stacey and Joe premiered earlier this month, giving fans a peek into her life with husband Joe Swash, 43, at their home, affectionately named Pickle Cottage.

The six-episode show features the couple alongside their children Rex, five, Rose, three, and two-year-old Belle, plus Stacey’s older kids, Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, and Harry, Joe’s teen son from a previous relationship. However, it’s not all been smooth sailing for Stacey and Joe. After just one episode aired, the pair faced a barrage of criticism, with some slamming the show as “utter trash” and others accusing the BBC of squandering their licence fee payments.

The backlash has been so intense that odds are now stacked at 78% against the show being green lit for a second season. Betting company Bet Ideas predict there’s even a chance the BBC might end the show mid-season, offering odds of 2/1 that it won’t survive to show all six episodes.

Bet Ideas’ spokesperson Shane Orton said: “It’s difficult to remember the last time a high-profile BBC show got such a kicking from the viewers.”, reports the Express.

“We think there’s no way that the BBC will film a second series – especially with the licence fee being such a sensitive issue at the moment. They can’t say the show is value for money when so many viewers hate it.”

He further added that Stacey and Joe’s show may be in line for a time slot change, possibly shifting out of its prime position of 8pm on Tuesdays. “It’s not uncommon for networks to relocate underperforming shows to a less prominent time slot, and we wouldn’t be shocked if that’s precisely what happens in this scenario,” he suggested.

The tension between Stacey and Joe increased in the second episode as the couple got into an explosive argument. The pair, who got married last year, found themselves at odds in a heated exchange over the phone.

Former EastEnders star Joe hung up on Stacey after she was annoyed with him for allowing their kids to enjoy baked beans on the sofa.

Angry, Stacey recounted: “Wow. The argument was I came home and thought I’m going to tidy the front room because the front room is a sh**hole and all over my sofa was beans!” She was incensed after discovering “about 10 baked beans” smeared on the couch, but Joe refused to back down.

He retorted: “I’m not you! You go on as if you’ve never ever given those kids food in the front room, which would be a lie!”.

Joe continued: “Your reaction to me giving the kids beans on toast on the sofa is an overreaction. You’re out of order, Stace. I spent the day looking after the kids. I cooked them lunch…” Stacey clapped back, countering that as a dad, that’s a “normal thing to do” with the kids. At the time of their interaction, Joe was staying in a hotel far from the family home due to filming commitments for another TV project.

The bust-up reached a peak when Joe made a sarcastic comment, with “have a lovely evening”. A teary-eyed Stacey said to the cameras: “It’s not just the beans. The beans are like the icing on the cake of all the things I have to go around and pick up.”
