Motown legend Stevie Wonder rules out following Elton John’s lead and retiring. Instead he’s finally ready to drop his first new album in 20 years, written about his expereince as a blind man.
SONGS are the key to Stevie Wonder’s life who has vowed never to retire.
The Motown legend is 75 years young but, fresh from completing a UK tour, he has no plans to call it a day like peers Elton John and Billy Joel.
Stevie said: “For as long as you breathe, for as long as your heart beats, there’s more for you to do.
“I love playing music….that’s like my mantra…I’m not going to stop the gift that keeps pouring through my body. No one’s worth me doing that…I love doing what I’m doing, an artist doesn’t stop drawing just because; you keep on. So as long as you can imagine, is as long as you are going to be creative, and as long as you let your mind work, you don’t have to retire.”
In fact Stevie is prepping the release of a new album, his first in 20 years, and one he’s been working on for decades about his experience as a blind man.
In a rare interview with the Sidetracked podcast he revealed. “I always tell people, I’m three times 25. So I’m still young.
“I’m still a baby to this thing called life. And I always feel like there’s so much more that I want to do..So in this time and space that we do have, I want to do everything I can.
“I’m going to put music out. I’m working on my project which is called Through The Eyes Of Wonder.”
Besides music Stevie has been an activist for good over decades, but admits current political climate is tough but he has a warning to those in charge.
“I have a song you will hear on my next project called Fear Can’t Put Dreams To Sleep. And you can’t let fear put your dreams to sleep. You can’t….there’s some people trying to go backwards. To the good old bullsh*t days. It’s not going to go down like that.
“And I think that for those who think it’s going to go down like that, remember God is watching you and that you too will have a number.”
