The Strictly Come Dancing star headed to Ibiza with her sister Becky ahead of training for the new series – Amy, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2023, said they spent ‘proper quality time together’
Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden enjoys a sun-soaked holiday with her twin sister ahead of training for the show’s new series.
The pro dancer, 34, let her hair down with her sibling Becky in Ibiza. She relaxed on the White Isle before getting back into training ahead of the new series of Strictly.
The sisters basked in the rays and enjoyed boat rides, evenings out by the pool, and sipping cocktails. Amy, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2023, wrote on Instagram: “Some much-needed twin time. We had the perfect little escape – full of sunshine, sangria, beach days, rooftop swims, incredible food, and most importantly, proper quality time together.”
Amy, who had a mastectomy and chemotherapy to treat her breast cancer, added: “After my cancer diagnosis, I promised my family (and myself) that I’d take more downtime.
“I used to live life at 100mph, saying yes to everything and everyone. But cancer shifts your perspective.
“This year I’ve been incredibly lucky with new job opportunities which have been full on but so rewarding and I can’t wait to share all to you very soon.
“So having time to slow down isn’t just okay – it’s essential. These past few days have been the perfect reset and I’m heading into the new season feeling recharged, happy, stronger, and HEALTHIER than ever.”
Amy, from Caerphilly in Wales, returned to the hit BBC show last year after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023.
But she had to pull out during last year’s Strictly due to a shin injury.
Meanwhile, she recently opened up about her battle with cancer, revealing she experienced an “all time low” after completing treatment.
However, she said she now feels like a “newer, stronger” version of herself, adding she is eager to make a comeback on the dance floor.
She said: “I feel like Amy’s back, but actually a newer, stronger version of me. I’m really grateful to be in this position. [But] It’s been a long road of recovery.”
