Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova feared she had been paralysed after her horror fall in rehearsals.
The Ukrainian dancer, who joined Strictly in 2017, suffered the nightmare fall in rehearsals for the BBC show back in August. The dancer was stretchered into an ambulance and rushed to hospital after falling on her back.
Nadiya later revealed she had received the “all-clear” from the hospital and would be returning to the dance floor “soon”. However, the dancer has now revealed she couldn’t feel her left leg after the incident and was unable to move, so she began to fear the worst.
She told the Mirror: “It was a really scary moment. I was up on a chair and table in heels rehearsing for a group dance and the next thing I knew, I was on my back in pain and not really sure what was going on. There are so many things that go through your head. I was incredibly worried because I couldn’t feel my left leg and I was unable to move.

She added: “I was strapped to a trolley for hours and told not to move while we waited for a scan. My head was held with straps and I could only look directly up. That’s when you worry because you have no idea how bad it is. I was thinking it might be the end of my series or even my dancing career. I had time to think about everything and there were a lot of tears.”
Luckily, doctors told the dancer there was “no permanent damage” from the injury, which she describes as the “biggest relief” of her life. However, this came after a horrible wait for the results of the scan to assess the damage to her spine.

The day after the accident, Nadiya reassured fans that she was okay and had been well looked after at the hospital. She said in a post on Instagram: “Well… where do I start? What a 24 hours!
“Thank you so much for all the messages, love and support. I just wanted you to know that I am ok. I had a fall in training yesterday and landed on my back.
“I was really worried for a while and I was so thankful to the Strictly family and medical team who really looked after me. The staff at the hospital were so kind and caring.
“I’m smiling in the picture but it was really scary and there were a few tears as I had to lie still for hours but I was given the all-clear after an X-ray and allowed to go home.
“I’ve got some physio today but I will be back on that dance floor soon and I’ll be ready to shine and sparkle in the new series of the biggest show on TV. I can’t wait for you to see it. Keep dancing!”
In another update, she shared that she’d had another scan and some more physio from the Strictly team and would be dancing again “tomorrow”. She said: “Hi everyone! I’ve had so many kind messages over the past 48 hours – thank you for your love and support.
“So many questions too so I just wanted to let you know that I had another scan today – just to check things over – and some more physio from the Strictly team and I’ll be back on that dancefloor tomorrow.”
She added: “I feel a lot more like myself today, can’t wait to be back with my [Strictly] family and looking forward for the new series.”
The new series of Strictly Come Dancing will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday September 20.
