The Chase star Anne Hegerty has addressed claims that she has married an unidentified mystery man after fans have flooded the TV star with questions
Anne Hegerty has responded to questions about her “unidentified mystery husband”.
The TV star, known for her iconic role as the The Governess on The Chase, has finally addressed rumours that she’s secretly married. The 67-year-old quiz whizz appeared on ITV’s Loose Women to discuss the new series of Beat the Chasers and was asked about her personal life.
Host Christine Lampard probed Anne about her supposed “mystery husband” and asked: “Anne, according to a recent Wikipedia page entry it’s confirmed that you were indeed married to an unknown man. Who was this mystery husband?”
Anne clarified: “I have no idea. Somebody vandalised my Wikipedia page and claimed that I was married to somebody called Jake Hester! I have no idea if he even exists, I’ve certainly never met him. My brother didn’t help when he messaged me and said: ‘I’ve got to meet this guy!'”
When questioned about her relationship status, Anne confirmed: “I’m fine, I’m absolutely fine,” reports the Mirror.
As for participating in Celebs Go Dating, Anne expressed doubt: “I don’t really think so. I’m really quite introverted, really I need a lot of down time and a lot of alone time.”
Anne first gained fame as a star on The Chase in 2010 and has since featured on The Chase Australia, Britain’s Brightest Family and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.
Earlier this year Anne discussed her romantic history and revealed that her longest relationship lasted only four months: “He was a lovely bloke, but I am just not good with the sort of attention that people need.”
Speaking to The Guardian, she confessed: “I think the problem is I find it really difficult to fall in love with real people. I’ve thought: ‘Am I in love with this guy?’ And then we kind of get together and I think, ‘Damn it, no, oh dear.'”.
In conversation with OK! magazine, Anne confessed she face struggles with intimacy: “I get overwhelmed in the presence of actual people and everything shuts down. I’ve found that with sex, too. It’s like I can’t be fully in it. That much intimacy, I almost zone out.”
