ITV This Morning star shares wedding news in “unconventional” way on show as she tells ITV hosts Dermot O’Leary and Sian Welby all about her big day which was planned in four weeks
A star of This Morning returned to the programme with thrilling news, announcing that she had recently wed her partner.
On Friday’s (July 18) episode of the popular ITV chat show, Dermot O’Leary was back on our screens alongside co-host Sian Welby.
The pair were there to present the day’s top stories, including a cooking segment with chef Poppy O’Toole, who was radiant with happiness as she revealed that she had just got married.
Introducing Poppy to the show, Dermot said: “We’ve got the nearly married potato queen, Poppy O’Toole.” The camera then moved to the TV chef as she waved her hand in the air, showing off her new ring. Dermot quickly interjected: “Congratulations.”, reports the Mirror. To which Poppy replied: “Thank you.”
Unable to resist asking, Dermot queried: “Did you serve potatoes at your wedding?” Poppy, known as the ‘Potato Queen’, confessed: “Ok so as much as I love potatoes I did say not that much so we did just have one truffle potato salad.”
Poppy also shared her joyous news on Instagram, admitting that it wasn’t quite the wedding day she and husband Tom had initially planned.
She posted: “Well you know how we organised a wedding in like four weeks… turns out you need to give at least 29 days notice and we forgot haha. Very us.
“Unconventionally we had our ‘wedding’ two weeks ago where we wrote our own vows and had our friend lead the ceremony (she did amazing) so although it wasn’t ‘official’, it was the best day of my life!!”.
“So this morning we did all the official stuff at the registry office (shout out Redditch xx) with just our parents. We didn’t have a photographer so Tom decided to do a little photoshoot of me in the waiting room on his iPhone. Very glam. Very high fashion. Then our Mums signed the papers as witnesses and it was all very lovely.
“Moral of the story: it doesn’t matter where you are in the world, if you’re with the people you love and having a laugh, you’re very very lucky. I had South of France on my mood board but Redditch will do xx.”
The post was met with a flurry of congratulatory messages from fans and celebrity friends.
Gemma Collins was quick to comment, simply writing: “Congratulations.”
Andi Oliver chimed in with: “Congratulations lovelies. May the road rise with you!”.
One fan penned: “Couldn’t think of a better place to get married! Congratulations! !” Another added: “The richest people have love and it looks like you have an abundance! Congratulations!”.
