Eccentric Tiger King star Joe Exotic has revealed he is expecting to die in prison after the cancer-stricken Netflix star was handed another blow by judges
Tiger King star Joe Exotic claims he will die soon as he is running out of legal options to leave prison.
Exotic lost his criminal appeal case in Oklahoma over his conviction for hiring a hitman to kill rival Carole Baskin and endangering animals.
The 62-year-old claimed that his last chance of overturning his criminal conviction was refused by Colorado judges on Wednesday.
Breaking down in tears on the phone, the eccentric star claimed his will to live was slipping away over his helpless plight and separation from husband Jorge Marquez Flores, who was deported from the US in June.
He described the decision as a “death sentence for me”, adding his prostate cancer is spreading in his body and could kill him.
Exotic who became a household name thanks to Netflix ’s Tiger King series in 2020, said he is “drained, tired, ready to give up”.
He added: “I’ve got another appointment for another CAT scan because they think that my prostate cancer is now in my ribs. The tumor in my lung is growing. This is a death sentence for me.”
Exotic said: “Right now, I’m extremely upset. I’m ready to give up, but I can’t because Jorge is counting on me out there.
“If I have to serve my entire sentence, I’m not going to get through this because my illnesses are going to get me first.
“But am I going to keep fighting? I have to.
“The support that I have in here (prison) and the letters from my fans is what’s kept me alive so far.
“The guys here are great. When you need something, they’re there and it’s because we’re all in the same boat. Everybody is trying to do one thing and that’s get home.”
Exotic confirmed he is suffering depression amid the legal blow and the deportation of his husband Flores in June.
Joe added: “It’s tough. It really is. When you’re in prison, you have nothing. When you are ripped away from every emotion that you have on the free world and put in a room with nothing or no one, I can see why so many people commit suicide in here.
“I talk to him two, three times a day on the telephone, how we both struggle.
“He’s in Mexico living in a rat shack, and I worry about it every day, but I gotta get out of here so I can help him and I can help other people.”
