Music star Mark Ronson, who is behind mega hits like Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black and Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk, has gone into hospital after a grisly injury during a show
A huge music star has been taken to hospital after injuring himself on stage.
The 49-year-old music producer is famed for hits such as Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black, their famous cover of Valerie, and Uptown Funk with Bruno Mars. Ronson, who is married to Meryl Streep’s daughter, Grace Gummer, landed in hospital after his gig went horribly wrong.
The star told fans that he had “popped two bicep tendons” while trying to move some heavy DJ equipment while performing at the show. He shared a snap from his hospital bed but seemed in high spirits as he smiled and gave a thumbs up to the camera.
Taking to Instagram, Mark said: “That time the house PA was so bad that I tried to one-hand turn the stage monitor towards the crowd mid-mix to give them some extra juice. Turns out they weigh more than I thought…
“Two popped bicep tendons and one finished gig later, here we are, baby! #tornthisway.” The hashtag might’ve been a reference to Lady Gaga’s hit Born This Way – the pair worked together on her fifth album, Joanne.
Fans rushed to the comments to wish the producer well on his recovery. “Oh no… but nice to see you ok. Good recovery Mark,” wrote one.
Another commented: “Feel better Mark! Sending you healing energy.” A third added: “Dude Mark! glad you’re on the mend man. sending healing vibes broski.”
Artist Diplo couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at Mark’s expense, writing: “looks like you just gave birth”. Peter Andre penned: “Get well soon [heart emoji]”.
Mark will be releasing an autobiography – titled Night People – about his time as a DJ in New York during the nineties. He said of the book: “DJing in 90s New York City informed everything I ever did after, becoming the foundation for all my future work and creativity.
“In ‘Night People,’ I wanted to capture that transformative period of my life and celebrate three of my great loves: the art of DJing, the thrilling energy of New York City after dark, and the wild and wonderful characters who populated our world and became my second family.”
He added: “This book is my love letter to a vanished era that shaped not just my career but my identity—a time when finding my craft put me on the path to finding myself.”
Mark tied the knot with his wife, actress Grace, in 2021. “To my truest love… Out of nowhere, you made 45 hands down the greatest year of my life,” he wrote in a post.
“And I’m sure it took me 45 years to become the man worthy of your love. I hope I spend every one of these birthdays by your side til my last day. And beyond. Forever and ever yours (and yes, we got married) [sic].”
Ronson has worked with some of the biggest stars on the planet and is behind some of the biggest hits of the last 20 years, including his and Amy WInehouse’s cover of the Zutons’ Valerie. He has won nine Grammys, including one for Amy’s album Back to Black, one for her 2006 single Rehab and one for his 2014 single Uptown Funk, featuring with Bruno Mars.
