Will Smith has come under fire from people who believe he’s using AI shots of fans in a concert video.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star has kicked off the UK leg of his Based on a True Story tour, which includes dates in surprising places such as Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall and Scarborough Open Air Theatre. It comes two years after that infamous Oscar slap that blighted his career.

Will took to Instagram with a video from one of his concerts, captioned: “My favorite part of tour is seeing you all up close. Thank you for seeing me too [heart emoji].” But fans have become suspicious of it as they’ve spotted some odd things in the clip.

And they believe it’s because the footage is AI-generated. Apparent visual blunders in the clip include blurred faces, oddly shaped hands and a sign that reads: “FR6SH CRINCE.”

One strange part of the video shows a man holding up a sign that reads: “You Can Make It” helped me survive cancer. THX Will.” The fan’s fingers gripping onto the sign are clearly blurred.

It gets even more bizarre when you look at the woman standing in front of him in the crowd, also holding the sign. Part of her hand seems to be blurred and it appears as though the headband worn by a lady behind her is appearing over her arm.

People also noticed a lot of people had blurred or seemingly distorted faces(Image: Will Smith / Youtube)

Fans in the comments claimed the footage must be AI-generated. One wrote: “Half of the footage is AI [laughing emoji],” and a second agreed: “Holy AI… It’s not even a good AI render you instantly see that is fake…”

A third asked: “AI crowd, Embarrassing,” and a fourth mocked: “Ah yes “I love you FR6Sh Crince” def no ai, really thought better of you.” A fifth asked: “Why are these AI people in the crowd? That’s embarrassing…”

Others pointed out how the faces of many fans in the crowd looked distorted and even appeared not to have eyes. Another added: “An AI crowd being posted on the official page is maaaad embarrassing.”

Some fans wondered why AI was allegedly being used as the tour has been successful so far. Smith kicked off the UK leg of the tour on Sunday (August 24) in front of around 8,000 and last night played in Cardiff.

He will later visit Manchester, Wolverhampton and London. The tour comes off the back of his album of the same name – his first new music in two decades.

Announcing his tour back in March, telling fans: “I’M GOING ON TOUR THIS SUMMER!! We’re hitting up UK & Europe to bring U all the hits, some new joints, and a few surprises. All these years, I’ve NEVER done a headline tour and I can’t wait to see you guys!!”

is also performing in places such as Madrid in Spain, Paris in France, Budapest in Hungary and Frankfurt in Germany. Smith has just released his fifth studio album – Based on a True Story – his first new music in two decades.
