Netflix offer £3million for uncensored new episodes of Little Britain

According to reports, Netflix is set to offer approximately £3million to the stars of Little Britain to create new episodes of the show.

Bosses of the streaming service are apparently hoping to poach writers and stars David Walliams and Matt Lucas from the BBC.

It’s claimed Netflix think they could offer more leeway when it comes to the controversial characters of the show.

A source said: “Netflix have set up phone meetings next week with David and Matt.

“The offer they are making is more than double the BBC could make. It’d be a package of well over a million each.

The insider continued telling The Sun: “David and Matt don’t need the cash but bosses at Netflix know they are a more viable option for the brand.”

Little Britain debuted on the BBC in 2003 and ran for four series.

It was known for controversial character such as Vicky Pollard, Lou Todd and Andy Pipkin, and Bubbles Devere.

Walliams, 48, confirmed plans for a return with Lucas, who has just been announced as the new host of The Great British Bake Off, back in January.

This came after the pair trialled a comeback in a one-off Radio 4 episode about Brexit in October.

Britain’s Got Talent star Walliams said at the time: “I would say there will definitely be some more Little Britain coming. I can’t say when exactly but at the right time and place.

“It was fun coming back for radio because that’s where we started.

“We had to put it together quite quickly as it was about Brexit. Plus no one expected us to come back on the radio. You would have expected Comic Relief or a big live tour. The reaction was great, which was encouraging.”
